ESD payment shows 'paid' but money not in my bank account - how long should I wait?
I checked my ESD account status this morning and it says my weekly claim is 'paid' but there's nothing in my bank account yet. This is my first unemployment payment after getting approved last week. I'm starting to worry because I have rent due in 3 days. How long does it normally take for the money to actually hit your account after ESD marks it as 'paid'? I set up direct deposit during my initial application. Is there something else I need to do or just be patient? Really stressing because I need this money ASAP.

Usually takes 2-3 business days after it says paid for the money to show up in your account. It's not instant like a regular paycheck direct deposit.

Thanks! So if it said paid on Tuesday I should see it by Friday hopefully? That would be such a relief.

First payment often takes longer than subsequent ones. Did you double-check that you entered your correct banking info? Also, some banks hold the funds for 24 hours before they're available in your account. If you don't see it after 3 business days, you should try to contact ESD to make sure there isn't a problem with your direct deposit setup.

I'm pretty sure I entered my bank info correctly during the application, but now I'm second-guessing myself. Is there a way to verify my direct deposit info in the eServices portal? I can't seem to find it.

That's reassuring to hear! I'll try to relax a bit. Just never been in this situation before and everything feels urgent.

To check your payment method: Login to eServices > UI Claim > View and manage payment information. You can see if you're set up for direct deposit or debit card there. If it shows direct deposit but still no payment after 3-4 business days, something's wrong. When I had a similar issue, it turned out my bank account number was off by one digit! Had to call ESD to fix it.

If you're in a hurry to reach ESD to verify your payment info, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I spent DAYS trying to get through on my own with no luck, but their service connected me to an ESD agent in under an hour. There's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. Definitely worth it when you're stressed about payments not showing up and need answers fast.

Not an ad, just sharing what worked for me after I spent 3 days trying to get through the regular way. When you need answers about missing money, sometimes paying for help makes sense. Just an option if OP gets desperate.

ESD is SO FRUSTRATING with how they handle payments!!! It said

That's not the normal experience though. Most payments process within 2-3 business days after showing 'paid' status. There was likely something unusual about your claim that triggered additional verification. Standard direct deposits should be pretty straightforward.

Maybe but EVERY PERSON I know who's filed has had some kind of problem. My sister waited 5 days, my neighbor got a paper check when he signed up for direct deposit. Nothing works right with ESD!!

UPDATE: You guys were right! The money appeared in my account this morning (Thursday) and the ESD site had marked it paid on Tuesday. So it took exactly 2 business days. I checked my payment settings in eServices like someone suggested and everything was correct. Thanks for helping me not panic!
