ESD payment shows 'paid' but not in Chase bank account yet - typical deposit time?
I just checked my ESD account and it shows my unemployment benefits as 'paid' for this week, but the money hasn't shown up in my Chase bank account yet. This is my first time receiving unemployment, so I'm not sure what the normal timeframe is. Does anyone know how long direct deposits usually take to appear after the ESD system shows 'paid'? Is there something additional I need to do to make sure the money transfers correctly? Getting a bit anxious since I have bills coming due next Monday.

Typically ESD payments hit bank accounts within 1-2 business days after showing as 'paid' in the system. Chase specifically can sometimes hold funds for 24 hours after they receive them. If today is the first day it's showing as paid, I'd give it until tomorrow afternoon before worrying. If it doesn't show up by the end of the second business day, then you might want to contact ESD.

•Thanks! That's reassuring. I'll wait until tomorrow afternoon then. Do payments usually come in the morning or can they drop anytime during the day?

I've had NOTHING but problems with ESD deposits!!! Been on UI since January and sometimes it takes 3-4 days even when it says "paid" in the system. They claim its 24-48 hours but that's COMPLETE BS in my experience. The system is totally broken and nobody ever answers the phones when you call to ask about it!!!! 😡

I bank with Chase too, and my ESD payments always hit my account around 3 AM the day after it shows as 'paid' in the ESD system. So if it switched to paid status today, check your account early tomorrow morning. Chase has never held my unemployment funds - they're available as soon as they appear.

•Oh that's really helpful to know! I'll check first thing tomorrow morning then. Fingers crossed it'll be there by then.

I had issues with my bank showing the deposit too. Called ESD and they said it was sent but my bank was holding it. Called my bank they said nothing was recieved. Back and fourth for days while I was out of grocery money. Finally got my first payment 5 days after it said paid.

•That sounds stressful! Did you have to do anything special to get it resolved or did it just eventually show up?

My brother had the same issue last month. He tried calling ESD for days but couldn't get through. He finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got him connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent told him the payment was already processed and just needed time to clear at Chase. It showed up the next morning.

•Those call services are just another way for companies to profit off desperate people who cant get through to ESD!!! The whole system needs to be fixed not another bandaid solution.

•Thanks for sharing your experience! That's reassuring that it might just be the first one that takes longer. I'll try to be patient.

You should check that your bank account information is entered correctly in your ESD profile. I once had a payment delayed because I transposed two digits in my account number. It's worth double-checking especially since this is your first payment. Log into your ESD account, go to Settings, and verify your banking details.

•Just checked and all my banking info is correct. Thanks for the suggestion though - that would have been an easy fix if that was the issue!

UPDATE: The money just hit my Chase account this morning at 2:47 AM! Looks like it takes about 1 business day after showing as 'paid' in the ESD system. Thanks everyone for your help and sharing your experiences!

•Great news! Glad it arrived as expected. This is pretty typical timing from what I've seen. Now you know what to expect for future payments.
