ESD payment says 'paid' on November 17 but still nothing in my account - normal delay?
I filed my weekly unemployment claim last Sunday and my ESD account shows it was processed and 'paid' on November 17th (three days ago). But there's still no money in my bank account! I double-checked that my direct deposit info is correct in the system. Is this a normal delay? How long does it typically take after the ESD website shows 'paid' for the money to actually hit your bank account? Getting a bit nervous since rent is due soon and I was counting on this payment. Anyone else experiencing delays this week?

It's normal for there to be a 2-3 business day delay between when ESD marks your claim as 'paid' and when the money actually appears in your account. If today is the 20th, and the payment was marked paid on the 17th, I'd expect you'll see it today or tomorrow at the latest. Banks also process deposits differently - some show pending deposits, others don't show anything until it fully posts. What bank do you use?

•Thanks! I bank with KeyBank. Their online system usually shows pending deposits but there's nothing showing up yet. Hopefully it will appear tomorrow then. Appreciate the reassurance!

•So frustrating! At least it's not just me. I wish they'd make it clearer on the website that 'paid' doesn't actually mean 'sent to your bank' on that exact date.

if its been more than 3 business days you should call them. sometimes they have random holds. happened to my brother last month and turns out they needed to verify something but never told him. good luck getting through tho, i spent like 4 hrs on hold last time i needed to talk to someone.

•I had the same experience trying to reach ESD last month - impossible to get through on their main line. I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 30 minutes. Totally worth it for peace of mind. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Saved me hours of frustration when I had a payment issue similar to what you're describing.

Just to add some additional information: ESD's payment process involves several steps even after they mark a payment as 'paid' in their system: 1. ESD marks the payment as 'paid' in their system 2. Their accounting department processes the batch payment (usually overnight) 3. The ACH transfer is initiated to your bank 4. Your bank receives and processes the deposit (can take 1-2 business days) If you filed on Sunday and it was marked paid on Wednesday (the 17th), I wouldn't worry until at least Monday the 22nd. If it still hasn't arrived by then, that's when I'd recommend contacting ESD to check if there's an issue. Make sure to check your ESD correspondence inbox too - sometimes they'll send notices about payment holds that require action.

•this happened to me too but it was because i answered one of the weekly questions wrong. check if you have any alerts on your account. btw the correspondence stuff is usually under "notices" tab.

Don't worry! This is totally normal. I'm on my second month of unemployment and here's my experience: ESD shows "paid" on Wednesday but the money doesn't hit my account until Friday morning almost EVERY WEEK. It's just how their system works. Their "paid" status just means they've approved it, not that they've actually sent the money that exact day. Banks also don't process ACH transfers on weekends, so if tomorrow is Friday, I bet you'll see it then!
