ESD payment showing 'paid' but nothing in my bank account yet - normal or issue?

Hey everyone, first time unemployment recipient here. My ESD account finally shows my weekly claim as 'paid' today (woo!) but I'm checking my bank account obsessively and nothing has shown up yet. I provided my direct deposit info when I applied 3 weeks ago. Is this normal? How long does it usually take for the money to actually hit your account after ESD says it's paid? Getting a little nervous since rent is due Friday and I'm cutting it close. Thanks!

Totally normal! The first payment typically takes 1-2 business days to show up in your account after it shows as \

Thank you so much! That's a relief to hear. I'll try to stop refreshing my bank app every 10 minutes then lol.

It depends on your bank actually. ESD releases the funds pretty quickly once it shows as 'paid,' but different financial institutions process ACH transfers on different timelines. Most major banks will have it available within 24-48 hours, but some smaller credit unions might take up to 72 hours for the first payment. \n\nIf you don't see it by Friday morning, then I'd start investigating. Make sure you double-check that your bank account information was entered correctly in your ESD profile. Just a single digit wrong in your routing or account number can cause major delays.

I double checked my account info and it's all correct. I bank with Chase so hopefully it will be there tomorrow. I'll definitely keep an eye on it though. Thanks for the detailed info!

DONT PANIC YET!!! The ESD system is SO SLOW with everything. My first payment took 2 days to hit my bank account after it showed paid on the website. But then I had problems with my second payment and it never showed up at all! Had to call ESD a million times because apparently they had an \

Similar situation happened to my brother. His first payment went through fine and then weeks 2-3 got stuck in some weird processing loop. ESD never notified him about any problems until he finally got through to someone.

If anyone is struggling to get through to ESD on the phone, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. After spending days trying to reach an agent, I used their service at claimyr.com and got connected to an ESD rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Definitely worth it when you're dealing with payment delays or account issues that need immediate attention.

My first payment took exactly 36 hours to hit my account after it showed as paid, but every payment after that has been consistently showing up at 10am the next business day. I think they put first payments through additional verification or something.

Just a quick tip for the future - once you're established in the system, payments usually follow a very consistent schedule. Mine always shows as paid on Tuesdays and hits my account on Wednesdays around 9am. The predictability helps a lot with budgeting. I hope you see your payment soon!

Update: The money hit my account this morning at 6am! You were all right - just needed to be patient. Thanks everyone for the reassurance and helpful info. Definitely less stressed about my future claims now that I know what to expect!
