ESD says 'paid' but funds not showing in bank account - normal delay?
I filed my weekly claim last Sunday and checked my ESD account today - it shows 'paid' status for both weeks I claimed ($728 total). But nothing has shown up in my checking account yet? This is my first time getting UI benefits and I'm getting worried because rent is due Monday. Is there normally a delay between when ESD marks it as 'paid' and when it actually hits your bank account? How many business days should I wait before panicking? I triple-checked my direct deposit info and it's definitely correct.

This is totally normal! Once ESD shows "paid" in your account, it usually takes 2-3 business days for the money to actually show up in your bank account. If you submitted on Sunday and it shows paid, you should see it by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Different banks process ACH transfers at different speeds too - some are faster than others. Don't panic yet!

•Thank you! That's such a relief. My bank usually processes direct deposits pretty quickly, so I was worried something went wrong. I'll give it until Friday before I start worrying again.

Same thing happened to me last month! Showed paid on Tuesday but didn't hit my account till Thursday. Some banks take longer than others

DEPENDS ON UR BANK!!! Chase takes 3 days but my credit union takes 4-5 days EVERY TIME and ESD wont do ANYTHING about it!!! They say its the banks fault but my paycheck from work hits same day so IDK who to believe anymore. Try calling ESD but GOOD LUCK getting anyone on the phone LOL

•Agree with this - it really does depend on your bank. For what it's worth, my credit union (BECU) usually takes 3-4 business days after the ESD payment shows as 'paid'. If you're worried about making rent, you might want to screenshot your ESD account showing the payment is authorized and share it with your landlord as proof payment is coming.

If you need to reach ESD to confirm your payment is actually processing, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation last month - payment showed as processed but hadn't appeared after 5 days. I tried calling ESD directly but kept getting disconnected after waiting on hold forever. Claimyr got me through to an actual person who could check my payment status. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent confirmed my payment had been sent but there was an issue with my bank's routing number that needed to be fixed.

•Thanks for the suggestion! If it doesn't show up by Friday I'll definitely check that out. Did they fix your issue right away when you finally got through?

•Yes, they were able to correct my routing number while I was on the phone with them. The next payment came through without any issues. Just having confirmation that the payment was actually sent gave me peace of mind too.

Just wondering - did you check the payment details in your ESD account? Sometimes it will say "paid" but if you click into the details it might show it was sent as a paper check instead of direct deposit. This happened to me when I first signed up - I thought I had entered my direct deposit info correctly but somehow it defaulted to mailing a check. Worth double-checking!

•I just checked and it definitely says direct deposit. I can see my bank account info (last 4 digits match my account). So weird that it's taking so long!

One more thing to keep in mind - if this is your first payment ever from ESD, the first one sometimes takes a little longer than subsequent payments. My first payment took almost 4 business days to show up, but after that they were consistently 2-3 days. It's like the banking system needs to establish the connection the first time. So don't worry if this one is taking longer - future payments should be more predictable.

•Update: the money just hit my account this morning! Looks like it took exactly 3 business days. Thanks everyone for the reassurance - I feel silly for worrying now but it's my first time dealing with unemployment and everything makes me nervous. Appreciate all the help!

•Don't feel silly! ESD doesn't explain anything clearly and money stuff is stressful. Glad it worked out!
