Missing ESD payment this week - anyone else's unemployment deposit delayed?
I filed my weekly claim on Sunday like I always do, but I didn't get my unemployment payment on Wednesday morning like usual. My ESD account still shows the claim as 'processed' but no money has hit my bank account. This is the first time in 8 weeks I've had a delay. Anyone else experiencing this issue this week? Should I be worried or is there some kind of system delay happening? I've got rent due Monday and I'm starting to panic a little...

Same here! Filed Sunday, normally get paid Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, and nothing yet. ESD website shows payment was processed but nothing in my account. I called my bank and they don't see any pending deposits either.

•That makes me feel slightly better that I'm not alone. Have you tried calling ESD to ask about it? I've been trying all morning but just get the busy signal.

•Wait, what holiday was on Monday? I didn't even realize there was one.

•There wasn't a holiday this Monday... the next federal holiday isn't until Memorial Day at the end of May. This has to be something else causing the delay.

This is happening to quite a few people right now. ESD is experiencing a payment processing delay according to their technical support team. I spoke with an agent earlier today who confirmed they're aware of the issue and working to resolve it. They said payments should post by tomorrow or Friday at the latest. If you need to reach an ESD agent to confirm your specific payment status, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was getting busy signals all morning too, but used their service and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They have a video demo of how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent told me as long as your claim shows as "processed" in the system, the money is coming - just delayed.

•Thank you! That's a huge relief to hear it's a system thing and not just my payment. I'll give that Claimyr thing a try if I don't see the deposit by tomorrow. Did they say what caused the delay?

•They didn't give specifics - just called it a "processing delay with their payment system." The agent mentioned they've been getting calls about it all morning, so it's definitely widespread. I wouldn't worry unless it goes beyond Friday without payment.

AGAIN with this garbage!!! This is the THIRD time in six months ESD has "delayed" payments without ANY warning!!! Some of us have bills that are timed around when our benefits arrive!!! What are we supposed to do when they can't get their act together?!? And they NEVER compensate us for late fees we get hit with!!!!

•I feel your frustration. Have you tried setting up a separate account just for bills and keeping a small cushion in there? That's what I had to do after getting burned by ESD delays twice last year. It's not fair that we have to adapt to their unreliability, but it saved me from late fees.

•Yeah because we all have EXTRA money to create "cushions" while on UNEMPLOYMENT. Good grief. Some people live paycheck to paycheck and don't have that luxury.

•Did you report any earnings for last week? Even a small amount can reduce your weekly benefit amount. Or there might be a new deduction for something.

Just checked my account - my payment finally posted about 20 minutes ago. It was 2 days late but the full amount is there. Might want to check your accounts now to see if yours came through too!

•Just checked and YES! Mine just came through too! Such a relief. Thanks everyone for the help and commiseration. Next time I'll try not to panic so quickly.

•Still nothing in my account. Called my bank and they don't see anything pending either. Typical that I'm the one who gets left out. Guess I'll be on the phone all day tomorrow.

This is a good reminder for everyone that it's wise to maintain a small emergency fund even while on unemployment if at all possible. ESD's system does occasionally experience delays, and banking transfers can sometimes take longer than expected due to various factors. For anyone still experiencing issues, here are the steps I recommend: 1. Check your ESD account to confirm the payment status shows as "processed" 2. Verify your banking information is correct in the system 3. Call your bank to check if they see any pending deposits 4. If it's been more than 3 business days since the "processed" status appeared, contact ESD directly Also, remember that if you're struggling with bills due to a payment delay, many utility companies and landlords will work with you if you communicate with them proactively about the situation.

•Thank you - this is really helpful advice. I'm definitely going to start putting a little aside each week once this payment comes through. I don't want to go through this stress again!
