ESD payment delay this week - no Monday deposit after Sunday claim?

Anyone seeing weird delays with their unemployment payments this week? I filed my weekly claim Sunday at midnight like always, and typically the money hits my account Monday morning. It's already Monday night and nothing's showing up yet. No pending deposit either. I didn't do anything different with my claim - reported the same job search activities as usual, no earnings to report. Just wondering if it's just me or if ESD is running behind on processing claims this week? Starting to get nervous since I have rent due on Wednesday...

Glad it's not just me then! Did you get any kind of notification or status change in your eServices account?

I noticed that on the ESD website there's a small banner saying they're experiencing processing delays due to system maintenance. They didn't post exactly WHEN we should expect our payments though!! I hate when they don't give us any real info - some of us have bills to pay RIGHT NOW! Especially with these ridiculous rent prices, we can't just wait around while they take their sweet time!!

Where did you see that banner? I just checked the website and didn't notice anything about system maintenance.

It was on the eServices login page yesterday, but now I don't see it either! Typical ESD to just remove important information without any explanation. So frustrating dealing with them!!

This happens about once every quarter when ESD runs their system updates. It's not widely announced, but it's a regular occurrence. Your payment is likely just delayed by 24-48 hours and should appear by Wednesday morning. The system is just processing claims in batches more slowly than usual. If you don't receive your payment by Thursday morning, that's when you should start getting concerned and try contacting ESD. But from my experience (been on unemployment three times in the past), these quarterly delays always resolve themselves within 2-3 days.

Thanks for the info! That makes me feel better. Do you know if they'll send any kind of notification when the payment finally processes? Or do I just need to keep checking my bank account?

They won't send a special notification for the delayed payment. The system will just process it normally but late, so you'll get the same confirmation you always do once it processes. I recommend setting up direct deposit alerts with your bank if you haven't already, so you'll get notified as soon as it hits your account.

I experienced this last quarter too. What I've found is that these payment delays often happen when there's a holiday coming up (even if it's a few weeks away) or at the beginning of a new quarter. ESD's payment processing system runs on an older infrastructure and gets bogged down sometimes. One thing to check: log into your eServices account and make sure your claim status still shows as "paid" for this week. If it says "pending" or "processing" that's normal during a delay. If it shows something like "adjudication" or "issue identification," that would indicate a different problem. You'll almost certainly get your payment by Wednesday, but if you're really concerned and need to speak with an ESD agent directly, try using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they helped me get through when I had a payment issue last month. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 But honestly, I'd wait until Thursday before taking that step, as this sounds like the regular quarterly delay.

Just checked eServices and it does say "paid" with the correct amount, but nothing's hit my account. That's reassuring that it's at least approved! I'll try to be patient and wait until Thursday like you suggested.

is claimyr really worth it? i tried calling esd direct last month and was on hold for TWO HOURS before getting disconnected!

It definitely helped me when I had an adjudication issue that wasn't getting resolved. The regular ESD lines are completely overwhelmed. But for a simple payment delay like this, I'd personally wait a couple more days before trying any service.

My wife works for DSHS (different department but they hear things) and said ESD is migrating some payment systems this week which is causing delays across all benefit programs, not just unemployment. Apparently it's a planned update but they did a terrible job communicating it to claimants. Totally typical bureaucratic mess up! She said most payments are delayed 2-3 days but should all be processed by Thursday at the latest. Something about fiscal year reporting requirements and database merges... IDK all the technical details honestly.

See this is EXACTLY what I'm talking about!! They're doing system updates that affect THOUSANDS of people who depend on these payments but don't bother to clearly communicate?! How hard would it be to send a mass email or even put a CLEAR notification on the website? So disrespectful to those of us who depend on UI to survive!!
