Weekly claim stuck on 'Processing' - ESD payment delay this week?

Anyone else experiencing a delay with their unemployment payment this week? I filed my weekly claim on Sunday evening like I always do, but it's Thursday morning now and my payment is still showing as 'Processing' in the ESD portal. Normally the money hits my account by Wednesday afternoon at the latest. No messages in my inbox about any issues with my claim, and my job search activities were all accepted. Starting to get nervous since I have rent due soon. Is this happening to others or should I be worried something's wrong with my claim specifically?

That's actually a relief to hear it's not just me. Any idea if we should call them about it or just wait?

This happens sometimes when ESD is doing system updates or if there's a high volume of claims being processed. If there are no disqualification messages or issues showing in your account, it's likely just a temporary delay. I'd give it until tomorrow before getting too concerned. Their system sometimes gets backed up mid-month.

Do system updates happen randomly?? My BILLS don't care if ESD has an 'update' going on!!! I've been waiting 3 days past normal payout time and NOBODY from ESD bothers to even post a notice saying there's delays. It's totally disrespectful to people who NEED that money for basic necessities. Not everyone has a cushion to fall back on!!!

I experienced something similar last month - payment was delayed by 2 days. When I finally reached an ESD agent (after calling for hours), they told me there was a verification flag on my account that wasn't visible to me. I wasted so much time trying to get through on their regular line. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) which connected me to an agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent cleared the flag on my account and my payment processed within hours. Might be worth trying if you don't see progress by tomorrow.

Thanks for this suggestion. If it doesn't come through by tomorrow afternoon I'll definitely look into this. Did they explain what caused the verification flag in the first place?

i heard from my cousin who works at a bank that theres a delay with ACH transfers this week affecting government payments. not just unemployment but also other benefits. something about a processing center having technical issues. should resolve itself by tmrw or monday

This is incorrect information. ACH transfers are functioning normally at the federal level. ESD payment delays are almost always related to either system maintenance, identity verification reviews, or random claim audits. Please don't spread rumors that could cause unnecessary concern.

I noticed ESD sometimes does what they call "integrity checks" at random times during the year. They'll slow down payments to verify claims aren't fraudulent. Last time this happened to me I got my money 5 days late with no explanation or warning. The system is such a joke - they expect us to follow all their rules perfectly but they can't even process payments on time. Try calling the ESD number and you'll spend your whole day listening to their stupid hold music!!!!

If your claim is still showing as "Processing" without any pending issues or disqualifications, it's most likely just a processing delay. Here's what you should know: 1. ESD occasionally has processing backlogs, especially mid-month when their workload increases 2. If there are no messages in your account about issues, that's usually a good sign 3. Wait times for payments can occasionally extend to 4-5 business days 4. It's only considered a true delay if it goes beyond 5 business days If you still don't have your payment by Monday, I'd recommend contacting ESD directly. Make sure you've checked your settings in the ESD portal to confirm your payment method hasn't changed and that there aren't any notifications you might have missed.

Thank you for this detailed response! This makes me feel better. I double-checked and my direct deposit info is still correct. I'll give it until Monday before taking further action.
