Weekly ESD payment stuck on 'processing' - anyone else experiencing delays this week?
Hey everyone, is anyone else dealing with a delay on their unemployment payment this week? I submitted my weekly claim Sunday night around 11pm (usually do it earlier in the day), and it's still showing as "processing" in my ESD account. Normally by Wednesday afternoon it switches to "paid" status and the funds hit my account Thursday morning. It's now Thursday and still stuck on processing with no money in my account. Getting kind of nervous since rent is due next week. Could filing later on Sunday have caused this? Or is ESD having system issues again? Just trying to figure out if I should be worried or if it's happening to others too.

same thing happening to me! filed sunday afternoon and still processing. never had this problem before in 3 months of claiming. hoping its just a glitch in their system and not something wrong with my claim specifically

•That's actually reassuring to hear it's not just me. Have you tried calling them? I tried this morning but got the dreaded 'high call volume' message and it disconnected me.

This happens sometimes when ESD is doing system maintenance or updates. I wouldn't worry too much yet - there's typically a notice on the ESD website if there are known delays. The timing of when you file on Sunday doesn't usually affect processing time as long as it's before midnight. If it's still showing as processing by tomorrow (Friday), then you might want to try contacting them to make sure nothing's flagged on your claim. Also double-check that you answered all the job search questions correctly, as sometimes that can trigger a review that causes delays.

•Thanks for the info. I checked the ESD website and don't see any notices about delays, which is making me nervous. I did answer all the job search questions the same way I always do (logged my 3 activities, said yes to being able and available, etc). Guess I'll give it until tomorrow and then try calling again if nothing changes.

omg ESD is THE WORST with this!!! my payment was late THREE times last month and they never explain why!!! i hate how they just expect us to wait around for OUR MONEY while bills pile up!!!! 😡😡😡

•I know it's frustrating, but sometimes these delays are because they're verifying information. Last time my payment was delayed, it turned out they were cross-checking one of my job contacts. It was only a 2-day delay in the end. Try to hang in there.

There seems to be a system-wide delay this week. I've heard from several clients with the same issue. The most common reason for these delays is either: 1. ESD is doing quarterly cross-checks with employer wage reports 2. There's a system update happening 3. There's higher volume from recent layoffs In most cases, payments that are delayed like this will process by Friday or Monday at the latest. If your claim has been processing normally up until now, it's likely just a temporary system delay rather than an issue with your specific claim. If it goes beyond Monday without changing from "processing" status, you should definitely contact ESD directly to inquire. Sometimes these delays can indicate that additional information is needed, but typically you'd receive a message about that in your online account.

•Thank you for this detailed explanation! That makes me feel a bit better. I haven't received any alerts or messages in my account requesting additional information, so hopefully it's just the system being slow. I'll wait until Monday before really panicking.

If you need to reach ESD, good luck getting through on their phone lines! I had a similar issue last month and spent THREE DAYS trying to talk to someone. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me through to an ESD agent in about 25 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent was able to tell me exactly why my payment was delayed (turned out one of my job search activities needed verification) and they fixed it while I was on the phone. Might be worth it if you're still stuck by tomorrow and getting anxious about rent.

I'm experiencing a similar issue, but I think there might be something larger happening with ESD's payment system this week. I have a coworker who's also on unemployment, and she mentioned her payment was delayed as well. She filed early Sunday morning, so I don't think it's related to when during the day you filed. One thing to check - did you receive any correspondence in your ESD account? Sometimes they'll send a notice if they need additional information for your claim. If there's nothing in your account correspondence and your claim still says "processing," it's likely just a system delay.

UPDATE: My payment finally changed from "processing" to "paid" this morning (Friday). Looks like it was just delayed by a day or two. Just wanted to update in case anyone else is experiencing the same thing and checking this thread!

•Thanks for updating the thread. This is fairly common at the beginning of a new quarter or during system updates. If anyone experiences a delay longer than 5 business days from filing, that's when you should definitely contact ESD directly as it might indicate an issue that needs to be resolved with your specific claim.
