Weekly claim stuck in 'processing' status longer than usual - ESD payment delay?

Hey everyone, I'm feeling a bit anxious about my weekly unemployment claim this week. I submitted it Sunday morning around 8 AM like I always do, and typically by Wednesday morning (like 7-8 AM) it switches from 'processing' to 'paid' in the system. Then the funds hit my account later that day. It's almost 10:30 AM now and it's still showing as 'processing' which has never happened before in the 4 months I've been on UI. Has anyone else noticed longer processing times this week? I'm hoping it's just a system-wide delay and not something wrong with my specific claim. Bills are due Friday so I'm starting to get a little nervous, though trying not to panic yet! Anyone else experiencing this or know if ESD is having technical issues?

Thanks for letting me know! Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one. Fingers crossed it's just a delay on their end.

This happens every few months when they do system updates. Don't worry, your money is coming! My claim was late last month too but then suddenly switched to paid around 2 PM and I got my deposit the next morning instead of same-day. The ESD computers run on dinosaur technology lol

Oh good to know! I had no idea they did regular updates. First time this has happened to me so I was worried I did something wrong on my weekly claim. I'll stop checking every 20 minutes then haha

I'm sure it'll process later today. If you're really worried about your insurance payment, you could call your insurance company and ask for a one-day extension. Most companies will give you 24 hours without a late fee if you just ask.

This is actually a known issue right now. ESD is experiencing payment processing delays this week due to a system upgrade they're implementing. According to their technical support, claims filed this week may take 1-2 additional business days to process. This isn't affecting eligibility or approval - just the timing of when payments are released. If it's not showing as paid by Friday morning, that's when you might want to contact them, but based on similar situations in the past, most claims should still be processed by end of day Thursday. They typically don't announce these maintenance delays on their website, which is frustrating.

Thank you so much for this info! How did you find this out? I checked their website and Twitter but didn't see any announcements about delays.

I called this morning and spoke to a tier 2 specialist after waiting for almost 2 hours. They confirmed they're upgrading their payment processing system this week and it's causing delays for many claimants. The representative said it should be resolved by tomorrow but could potentially stretch into Friday for some claims.

Mine is also still processing BUT my brother got his payment at the normal time this morning. Doesn't make any sense. we both filed at the same time sunday night. The inconsistency with ESD drives me crazy!!!

If anyone needs to reach ESD about this issue but can't get through on the phones, I used Claimyr last month when my payment was stuck in processing for a week. It got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes when I couldn't get through for days on my own. They have a service that helps you skip the phone queues. I watched their demo video (https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3) and it was pretty easy. The agent was able to manually push my payment through once I explained the situation. Their website is claimyr.com if anyone needs it.

Does this actually work?? I've literally never gotten through to ESD on my own. Always says high call volume and hangs up on me!

Yes, it worked for me. The waiting is much shorter, and they guarantee you'll get through to someone without getting disconnected. Was worth it for me since I needed my payment urgently.

I work with unemployment issues as part of my job, and I can confirm that ESD is currently experiencing delays with their payment processing system. The upgrade they're implementing is actually to improve future processing speeds and security, but as with most tech updates, there are some temporary disruptions. A few important points to note: 1. This is affecting approximately 30-40% of claims this week (not all claims are delayed, which explains why some people got paid normally) 2. The technical team expects all pending payments to process by Thursday afternoon 3. If your claim has any other issues (adjudication, identity verification, etc.), this delay could be longer 4. This does NOT affect your eligibility - it's purely a processing delay 5. ESD typically adds a notice about these delays to your eServices dashboard, so check there rather than their main website If your payment doesn't process by Friday morning, then calling would be advisable, but for now, this appears to be a known system-wide delay that will resolve itself.

This is super helpful information! I just checked my eServices dashboard and you're right - there's a tiny notice at the bottom that mentions "potential payment processing delays this week." I totally missed it before. Feeling much less anxious now, thank you!

For future reference, these delays tend to happen around the same time every quarter - usually the third week of January, April, July and October when they do their system maintenance. I always budget a little extra cushion during these weeks just in case. Glad everyone's payments are coming through now!

That's really good advice about budgeting extra during those weeks. I'll definitely make a note of that for the future. Thanks again everyone for your help!
