ESD says payment issued but nothing in bank account after 5 days - what gives?
Super frustrated right now! My ESD account clearly shows my weekly benefit amount ($825) was paid last Friday, but here I am nearly a week later with NOTHING in my bank account. Status says 'paid' but my bank has zero record of any pending deposits. I've triple-checked my direct deposit info on the ESD site and everything is correct. Already behind on rent and utilities, and my landlord is getting impatient. Has anyone else had money show as 'paid' but then take forever to actually appear? How long should I wait before panicking? Called ESD about 20 times today but just got the 'high call volume' message and disconnected each time.

This happens more than you'd think. First, check if your payment method is set to direct deposit or the ESD debit card. If it's direct deposit, it can take 3-5 business days to process, especially if Friday was a holiday or your bank has holds on new deposits. If it's the debit card, you might need to activate it first. You can verify which payment method is active in your eServices account under "Payment Method." I'd wait until tomorrow before getting too worried.

•Thanks for responding! It's definitely set to direct deposit (I've been claiming for about a month with no issues until now). Friday wasn't a holiday and my bank never held the previous payments. I'm just so worried something got flagged or there's some kind of problem they're not telling me about. Ugh, I NEED this money!!

•OMG 9 DAYS?! I can't wait that long! Did you have to do anything special to make it show up or did it just appear randomly?

There could be several reasons for the delay. Have you checked if you have any new alerts or messages in your eServices portal? Sometimes ESD places a hold on payments due to identity verification issues or other adjudication matters that require review. If the payment is stuck in processing, only an ESD agent can tell you exactly what's happening and possibly expedite it if there's a system error. I recommend trying to reach them first thing in the morning (right when they open at 8AM) as call volume is typically lowest then.

•No alerts or messages showing up in my account. Everything looks normal except for the fact that I DON'T HAVE MY MONEY! I'll try calling right at 8am tomorrow but I'm not hopeful based on today's experience.

The EXACT same thing happened to me last month! Payment showed as issued but never came. Turns out there was a fraud flag on my account that didn't show up in my messages! Had to call ESD every day for a week before I finally got through. So frustrating when you're relying on that money! The system is BROKEN!!

•That's what I'm afraid of! How am I supposed to know there's a problem if they don't tell me?? Did they eventually release your payment or did you have to submit additional documents?

If you're having trouble reaching ESD by phone, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. It's a service that helps you get through to an actual ESD agent without the endless redials and hangups. I was in a similar situation with a payment that said 'paid' but never arrived, and was getting desperate after days of failed call attempts. Claimyr got me connected to an agent in about 30 minutes, and the agent found there was a system flag that needed clearing. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - their website is claimyr.com. Worth looking into if you're still struggling to connect with ESD tomorrow.

•Thank you! Never heard of this service but I'm definitely going to check it out if I can't get through tomorrow morning. At this point I'd try anything to get this resolved. I'll look at the video.

hve u checkd ur spam folder? sometimes esd sends emails about payment issues but they go to spam. also make sure ur not accidentally looking at last week payment history instead of this week. the esd website is super confusing

•Good idea about the spam folder - just checked and nothing there from ESD. And yeah, I'm definitely looking at the correct payment. It specifically says 'paid' for 4/14 (last Friday) but the money is nowhere to be found.

One other thing to check - is this your first payment after changing your direct deposit information? If you recently updated your banking details, the first payment after a change can take longer to process as they verify the new account. This is a security measure that sometimes isn't clearly communicated.

•Nope, same bank account I've been using since I first applied for benefits. No changes at all. Really appreciate everyone's help here though. I'm going to try calling at 8am sharp tomorrow and if that doesn't work, might try that Claimyr service someone mentioned. Will update when I (hopefully) get this resolved!

UPDATE: Finally got through to ESD this morning! Turns out there was a processing delay because of a system update they did last weekend. The agent said several claimants were affected and they're working to push all the delayed payments through within 48 hours. She noted my account specifically for follow-up. So if anyone else is experiencing this same issue, that's probably what's happening!

•Thanks for updating us! System updates causing payment delays is unfortunately common with ESD. Did they give you any kind of confirmation number or case ID for your specific payment issue? Always good to get that for your records in case you need to follow up again.

•Yes, got a confirmation number and the agent's ID. Money finally hit my account this morning! Such a relief.
