ESD payment shows 'paid' since 2/17 but still nothing in my bank account after holiday
I'm freaking out a little bit here. My ESD account shows my weekly claim as 'paid' since Thursday 2/17, but I still don't see anything in my bank account! I know yesterday was President's Day so banks were closed, but I always get my deposit the next business day after a holiday. It's now Tuesday afternoon and still nothing! My landlord is already on my case about rent being late and I literally have $43 to my name until this payment hits. Has anyone else had delays with their payments this week? Is there some new processing issue with ESD I don't know about? Getting really worried...

This happens sometimes especially after holidays. ESD might show 'paid' but there can be a 2-3 business day delay between when ESD releases the payment and when it actually shows up in your bank account. Since Monday was a federal holiday, today is technically only the first business day. I'd give it until tomorrow before panicking. If it doesn't show up by Thursday, then you should definitely contact ESD.

•Thanks for responding. I've never had it take this long before though... usually it's in my account by noon the next business day after a holiday. I can't wait until Thursday, I need groceries NOW and my landlord is threatening eviction if I don't pay by tomorrow!

If your payment doesn't arrive by tomorrow, you need to contact ESD directly. Here's what I recommend: 1. Check your banking information in your ESD account to make sure it's correct 2. Look at past payments in your ESD account - if they say "paid by direct deposit" that's different than just "paid" 3. Call ESD at 8am sharp when they open - that's the best time to get through Also, double-check that your bank isn't holding the deposit. Some banks place 24-48 hour holds on government deposits, especially if it's a larger amount than usual.

•I've triple-checked my banking info and it's definitely correct - same account I've been using for months. It does say "paid by direct deposit" when I check the payment details. I tried calling ESD this morning but was on hold for over an hour before I had to hang up for a job interview.

I've had this EXACT problem before. The ESD system is completely broken. They'll show it as paid but then it gets stuck in their system for days. One time I had to wait 9 DAYS after it showed "paid" before it hit my account! And calling them is IMPOSSIBLE - I tried for TWO WEEKS straight and could never get through. The system is designed to make you give up.

•9 days?! That's insane! I wonder if there's something wrong with their payment processing system? You'd think a state agency would have better technology...

Hey there, I went through this exact situation last month. After trying to call ESD for days with no luck, I used a service called Claimyr that got me connected to an ESD agent in about 25 minutes. The agent confirmed my payment was sent but explained there was a processing delay on their end. You can see how it works in this video: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The website is claimyr.com. It seriously saved me when I was in a similar panic about my late payment.

•Thank you!! I've never heard of this service before. I'll check out that video. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything to find out what's going on with my money.

There's actually a difference between when ESD processes payments and when they're transmitted to banks. According to their website: - ESD generally processes payments within 48 hours after you submit your weekly claim - The payment shows as "paid" once ESD approves it - ACH transfers to banks typically take 1-3 business days AFTER the "paid" status shows - Federal holidays add an extra day to processing So if it showed paid on 2/17 (Thursday), then Friday+Monday holiday+Tuesday = you're still within their normal timeframe. I'd expect it tomorrow.

•This is super helpful, thank you! I didn't realize there was such a detailed explanation of the timing. I'll keep an eye out tomorrow and hopefully it shows up.

•That's what they CLAIM on their website, but it's total BS. I've had payments take WAY longer than their "normal timeframe" and they never give you a straight answer about why. The system is broken and they know it!

Random question but did you change banks recently? I had an issue where my payment was delayed because I had updated my bank info and it triggered some kind of security review on my account. Just thought I'd mention it!

•No, same bank I've been using since I started unemployment back in November. But that's good to know that changing banks can cause delays!

UPDATE: My payment finally hit my account this morning! Looks like it was just holiday processing delays like many of you suggested. Thanks for helping me not completely lose my mind over this.

•Great news! Glad it worked out. This is pretty common after holidays, so keep it in mind for future reference. The payment timeline usually extends by a day or two.
