ESD payment still pending after 4th of July holiday - is this normal?
Filed my weekly claim last Sunday night like usual, but it's still showing 'pending' in my ESD account. It normally gets processed by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. Is the holiday screwing things up for everyone else too? I'm getting worried since I've got rent due soon and was counting on this payment. Anyone know if ESD is just backed up from the holiday or should I be concerned something's wrong with my claim?

•Thanks for letting me know! Good to hear I'm not the only one. Did you end up having to do anything last time or did it just process on its own?

This is a common issue after holidays. ESD processes claims in batches, and holidays delay the normal schedule. According to the ESD website, payments should resume normal processing by Friday. If you don't see a status change by next Monday, then you might want to contact them to verify there are no issues with your claim.

•But WHY don't they WARN people about this?? Some of us have bills due and can't just wait days and days with NO INFORMATION! My landlord doesn't care about ESD's holiday schedule!!! This happens EVERY holiday and they never bother to post a notice or anything. So frustrating!!!

If you need to reach ESD about this or any other claim issue, I've had great success using Claimyr. I was in the same boat after Memorial Day and couldn't get through on the phones at all. Claimyr got me connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and the website is claimyr.com. Totally worth it instead of stressing and hitting redial for hours.

•Never heard of this before. Does it actually work? I've tried calling ESD about 15 times this week and either get disconnected or told the wait is over 2 hours.

•Yes, it definitely worked for me. They basically hold your place in line and call you when they connect with an agent. Saved me hours of frustration. The agent I spoke with confirmed the holiday delay and fixed another issue I didn't even know I had that would have caused problems later.

•Just checked and mine switched to paid too! What a relief. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. Guess I just needed to be patient a little longer.

•For future reference, holiday processing delays are actually mentioned in the ESD handbook and on their FAQ page. They typically add 1-2 business days to processing times after federal holidays. Always good to plan ahead when a holiday falls near your claim filing date, especially if you have critical payments due.

I had this problem back in February (not even a holiday!) and my claim was stuck in pending for THREE WEEKS! It turned out there was some flag on my account because I'd picked up a one-day gig but reported it correctly. Had to talk to three different people at ESD before someone finally fixed it. The whole system is a mess honestly.

•That sounds awful. Did you ever get back paid for all those weeks you were waiting?

•Eventually yes, but it took another week after they fixed the problem. And they never explained why it got flagged in the first place even though I reported everything correctly. Just make sure you keep filing your weekly claims even when payments are delayed!
