Weekly claim stuck in 'processing' status - normal ESD timeframe?
Filed my weekly claim on Sunday night and it's STILL showing 'processing' in my ESD account on Wednesday afternoon. Usually my payments move to 'paid' status by Tuesday morning at the latest. I'm getting really anxious since I have rent due soon. Is anyone else seeing delays this week? And does anyone know what time of day ESD typically changes claims from 'processing' to 'paid'? Just wondering if I should expect it overnight or if they update throughout the day. This is my 5th week claiming, and I've never had it take this long before.

•That makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one. Have you tried calling them to find out what's happening?

ESD usually processes claims in batches overnight, so status changes typically happen early morning (2am-6am). It's not uncommon for processing to occasionally take longer, especially at the beginning of a quarter or during system maintenance periods. If you're still in processing status by Friday, that would be unusual and worth contacting them about. The current processing delay might be related to the quarterly wage verification they're doing right now across all claims.

•Is that true about quarterly wage verification? my friend said his claim was delayed back in January too, and that was the start of a quarter I think??

The exact same thing happened to me last month! Sat in processing for almost 4 days when it's usually just overnight. I totally panicked but then it suddenly switched to paid on Thursday morning with no explanation. I think they're having system issues or maybe they're just backed up. My payments normally process overnight and show as paid by 5am the next day, but sometimes it can take until noon for the status to update on the website even when the payment is actually being processed.

•Thanks for sharing your experience. That gives me some hope! Did your payment still arrive in your account on the normal day despite the delay in status change?

This happens periodically when ESD is experiencing high claim volumes or conducting system updates. The processing-to-paid transition typically happens in overnight batches (usually between 2-4am), but not always. A few things to check that might be causing the delay: 1. Did you report any earnings this week? That can trigger additional review. 2. Have you recently passed your benefit year end date? This often requires system recalculation. 3. Check if there are any new messages in your ESD inbox that might indicate an issue. If it's still processing by Friday, you should definitely contact ESD, as that would be outside the normal timeframe even for delayed weeks.

•I did report some part-time hours this week, but I've done that before without delays. No messages in my inbox about any issues. I'll wait until Friday before panicking I guess.

If you're getting anxious about this, I'd recommend using Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent quickly. I was in the same boat last month - claim stuck in processing for days, couldn't get through on the phone after 20+ attempts. Used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes who explained there was a flag on my account that needed clearing. You can see a demo of how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Saved me days of stress wondering what was happening with my claim.

•I've never heard of Claimyr before. Is it legitimate? I've been trying to call ESD all morning with no luck.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I HATE DEALING WITH ESD!!! They never tell you when there's a problem or delay, just leave you hanging and wondering if you'll be able to pay your bills!!! My claim got stuck in processing for A WHOLE WEEK back in February and when I finally got through to someone they said it was because of "random quarterly review" or some bureaucratic nonsense. The system is DESIGNED to make us suffer I swear!!! And good luck trying to talk to an actual human - I spent 3 hours on hold yesterday before getting disconnected!

•omg yes!! happened to me too! the worst part is they expect us to file on time every week but then take forever to process. how is that fair???

Sometimes when you report part time hours they have to manually review it if the system flags something. When I was on standby last year sometimes my claim would process right away and sometimes it would take 3-4 days. Most of the time it switched to paid status overnight but I've seen it change in the middle of the day too. The ESD website says to allow up to 5 business days before contacting them about delayed payments.

•Thanks for the info. I'll try to be patient then. It's just stressful not knowing if there's actually a problem or if it's just taking longer than usual.

I had a similar issue and I found out it was because my identity verification had expired and needed to be redone, but there was no notification about it. When I finally got through to ESD using Claimyr, they fixed it in minutes. Definitely worth checking if there's something specific holding up your claim rather than just waiting.

Just wanted to update - my claim that was stuck in processing finally went to paid status this morning around 4am! Looks like they're just running behind this week. Check your account, maybe yours went through too?

•Yes! Mine just changed to paid this morning too! Such a relief. Seems like they were just backed up this week for some reason. Thanks everyone for the advice and support!
