Claim shows 'Paid' but money not in my account - when does ESD actually transfer funds?

My unemployment claim status finally changed from 'processing' to 'paid' yesterday, but I still don't see any deposit in my bank account. I'm starting to get worried because I have bills due next week. Is there a way to check exactly when ESD released the payment? I looked everywhere in my eServices account but can't find any payment dates or transaction details. The payment summary page shows the amount as paid but gives no information about when it was actually sent. Does anyone know where to find this info or how long it typically takes for the money to show up after the status changes to 'paid'?

After your claim shows 'paid' status, it usually takes 1-3 business days for the money to hit your bank account depending on your bank. There should be a 'Payment History' section in your eServices account where you can see exactly when ESD sent it out. Look under the 'UI Claim' section, then click on 'View Payment History' or something similar. It'll show the date ESD processed the payment. Keep in mind that even though ESD might process it right away, your bank might hold it for a day or two.

Thanks! I found the payment history section but it only shows the payment amount and status, not the actual date they sent it to my bank. Does that mean it was just processed today?

CHECK THE BANK ITS GOING 2!!! Make SURE your direct deposit info is right in your account!!! I had this EXACT problem last month. My claim said paid for 2 WEEKS but no money!!!! When I finally got through to ESD they said I had entered one wrong number in my account info!!! The money was floating in limbo and they had to reissue the payment!!!! So frustrating!!!!

Oh no! I'm checking my banking info right now. Everything looks correct on my end. I've gotten payments before to this account, but this is the first one after my claim was in adjudication for a while.

It took 4 days for my payment to show up after status changed to paid. My bank is BECU. My friend with Chase got his in 2 days. I think it depends on your bank's processing times. ESD usually sends the transfers in batches overnight so if you just saw it change to paid yesterday, I wouldn't worry until at least Friday.

Same thing with my credit union. Always takes forever compared to my husband who banks with Wells Fargo. So annoying having to wait longer for literally the same payment from the same place but sent on the same day!

If you need to speak with an actual ESD agent about this (which I highly recommend if the money doesn't show up by day 3), try using Claimyr.com. I wasted DAYS trying to get through to ESD about a similar payment issue, but Claimyr got me connected to an agent in less than 30 minutes. They have this system that holds your place in line. There's a video that explains it at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent was able to tell me exactly when my payment was sent and why there was a delay.

Thanks for the suggestion. If I don't see the money by Friday I'll definitely try this. Did the agent actually have more payment details than what shows up in the online account?

Yes, they could see much more detail than what shows in the online portal. The agent told me the exact date and time the payment was sent, which bank it went to, and even the transaction reference number. This was super helpful because I could then talk to my bank with that specific info.

On your eServices dashboard, go to UI Claim > View Payment History > click on the specific week > View Payment Details. You should see a "Payment Issue Date" which is when ESD processed it. If that date is showing and it's been more than 3 business days, you might want to check with your bank. Sometimes they hold deposits from government agencies longer than regular deposits (happened to me twice). What payment method did you select? Direct deposit is usually fastest (1-3 days). The ReliaCard option can take 3-5 business days for first-time payments, and paper checks can take 7-10 days to arrive by mail.

Thanks for the detailed instructions! I followed your steps and found the Payment Issue Date - it shows yesterday. I'm using direct deposit, so sounds like I should expect it by Friday at the latest. Such a relief to know it's normal. The ESD website doesn't really explain these timeframes anywhere obvious.

Happy to help! Yes, you should see it by Friday for sure. The ESD system typically processes payments at night, so if it shows yesterday as the issue date, the actual transfer probably initiated last night. Your bank likely received it today and is now processing it on their end. Different banks have different posting schedules for ACH transfers. Some post immediately, others batch them once or twice a day.

not to get off topic but does anyone know if you can change your payment method from paper check to direct deposit? ive been waiting forever for these checks and they keep getting lost in the mail. im so sick of calling the post office every week

Yes, you can change it! Go to your eServices account, then Settings, then Payment Method. You can update to direct deposit there. Just make sure your bank info is 100% correct. Double-check those numbers!

Update: The money just landed in my account this morning! So it took about 48 hours from when the status changed to 'paid' until it appeared in my bank. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!
