ESD claiming I didn't work in-state - How to prove employment?

Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my unemployment benefits. The state is saying I didn't work there, but I definitely did! Has anyone else dealt with this? What did you do to prove your employment?

Ugh, that sucks. I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried sending them your pay stubs or W-2? That usually clears things up pretty quick.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've got my pay stubs ready to go. Did you just mail them in or is there a way to upload them online?

I uploaded mine through the unemployment portal. There should be an option to submit additional documents. If you cant find it, give em a call (good luck with that tho lol

This happened to me too! It's so frustrating. I ended up having to get a letter from my former employer stating my dates of employment and salary. It took forever, but it finally got sorted out.

The unemployment system is such a joke. They make it so hard for people who actually need help. I swear they do this on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits.

Idk man, I think they're just overwhelmed. Remember how crazy it got during covid? Theyre probably still catching up

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get it, but for me it was worth it. I was losing my mind trying to get through on my own.

Have you checked your work history on the unemployment website? Sometimes there are errors in their system. I had to dispute my work history once and it turned out they had me confused with someone else with a similar name.

Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. I'll definitely check that out. Thanks for the tip!

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before and I know how to wrangle these bureaucratic bulls. Here's what you need to do: • Gather ALL your employment documents. We're talking pay stubs, W-2s, offer letters, performance reviews, everything. • Write a detailed letter explaining your employment history. Include dates, job titles, and responsibilities. • Get a notarized statement from your former employer if possible. • File an appeal ASAP. There's usually a deadline, so don't drag your feet. • Keep calling and emailing. Be polite but persistent. Document every interaction. • Consider reaching out to your local state representative. They can sometimes cut through red tape. • If all else fails, look into legal aid services. Some offer free help with unemployment issues. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

Deep breaths, my friend. Remember, this is just a temporary setback. Try to do something nice for yourself each day while you work through this. You got this! 💪
