NYDOL questioning my UI claim after starting part-time gig work. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. I recently started doing some part-time gig work, and now they're questioning one of my claims. I'm worried my unemployment might stop, and I just started receiving benefits. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I do when I talk to them?

Ugh, been there done that. The system is so messed up. When did you start the gig work? Make sure you report ALL income, even if it's just a few hours. They'll find out anyway and it'll bite you in the ass later.

•I started like 2 weeks ago, just doing a few hours here and there. I reported it on my weekly claim, but now they're asking for more info. Should I be worried?

•Nah, you should be fine if you reported it. Just be honest when you talk to them. They might adjust your benefit amount, but that's better than losing it all. Good luck!

•Yeah, honesty is the best policy with these guys. They can smell BS from a mile away 👃

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? 🤔

•I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Here's what you need to know about partial unemployment and gig work: • Report ALL earnings, even small amounts • Keep detailed records of your hours and pay • Be prepared to explain your work situation • You may still qualify for partial benefits • Your weekly benefit amount might be reduced • Don't panic if they ask for more info - it's routine Remember, it's better to over-report than under-report. Good luck!

Have you tried reaching out to your local state rep? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

•I hadn't thought of that. How do I find my state rep?

•Just google '[your state] find my representative'. Most have websites where you can enter your address. They usually have staff dedicated to helping with unemployment issues.

Pro tip: When you talk to them, ask for a 'fact-finding interview' about your gig work. It shows you're being proactive and can help speed things up.
