EDD hasn't denied my claim yet, but I need to explain gap ASAP. How to reach them quickly?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment benefits. They haven't denied me yet, but they said to wait one business day for a decision. The thing is, I really need to talk to them ASAP to explain that the gap in my claim (from Nov 10 to Dec 5) wasn't my fault. I'm worried they might not pay me for that period. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice on how to get through to them quickly?

Ugh, dealing with EDD is such a pain! I've been there, buddy. Your best bet is to keep calling them non-stop. It's frustrating, but persistence is key. Good luck!

•Calling non-stop is the worst advice ever. I tried that for days and got nowhere. There's gotta be a better way!

•Hey, it worked for me! But yeah, I guess everyone's experience is different. My bad if it doesn't help everyone.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20? That's a rip-off. The government should make it easier to reach them without having to pay extra.

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny IMO. And yeah, the system should be better, but this is a good workaround for now.

•How long did you have to wait after using the service?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit by the phone. They called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than constantly redialing!

Listen up, cause I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down dates, times, and reasons for your claim gap. 2. Prepare a clear, concise explanation of why the gap wasn't your fault. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try their online portal. Sometimes you can submit additional info there. 4. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They often have direct lines to EDD. 5. Be patient but persistent. The system is overwhelmed, but don't let your case fall through the cracks. Remember, you have the right to appeal if they make a decision you disagree with. Don't give up!

•This is gold! 💯 Especially the tip about contacting your state rep. That's how I finally got my issue resolved.

•Great advice! Quick question - how do you find out who your local state representative is?

•Just google "find my state representative" and your state name. Most states have websites where you can enter your address to find your rep.

Have you tried faxing your explanation? Sometimes old school methods work better with these bureaucratic systems.

•Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 🤣

•Laugh all you want, but it worked for me! Sometimes you gotta play by their outdated rules to win the game.

I had a similar issue last year. Turns out there was a glitch in their system that was causing gaps in claims for a lot of people. Might be worth asking if that's happening again.

•Oh wow, I hadn't even considered that. Did they fix it automatically or did you have to keep pushing them?

•Had to keep pushing, unfortunately. But once I got through to someone who knew about the glitch, it got resolved pretty quickly.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I always get through within 15 minutes if I call at 8:01 AM.

•This! Early bird gets the worm... or in this case, an actual human on the phone 😅

guys i think were all missing the point here. The real question is: how do we fix this broken system? we shouldnt have to struggle so much for basic support

•Preach! 🙌 We need to start contacting our representatives and demanding change.

•Good luck with that. Politicians don't care about us little guys.

•That attitude is exactly why nothing changes. We gotta at least try!
