EDD payment pending since Jan 24 - uploaded docs yesterday, told to call back today. Any advice?
Hey everyone, I'm in a frustrating situation with my unemployment benefits. I uploaded all the required documents yesterday as they asked, and they told me to call back today to see if they can process my payment. This payment has been pending since January 24th! Has anyone else experienced such long delays? Any advice on how to speed up the process or what to say when I call?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been waiting since December for my benefits. It's like they're purposely making it difficult for us. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under the unemployment office.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I haven't tried that yet. How do I go about contacting my local rep? Do I just google their office number?

•Yep, just google your state and district representatives. Most have a form on their website for constituent services. Fill it out explaining your situation and they usually get back to you within a week or so. Good luck!

•I second this advice! My rep's office helped me resolve a 3-month delay in just two weeks. Definitely worth a shot 👍

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Seems sketchy to pay for something that should be free.

•I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks to get through. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarentee you'll get through?

•Sure! You choose the department you need to reach, pay the fee, and they start calling right away. They use some tech to navigate the phone tree and wait on hold. When a real person answers, you get a call on your phone. No guarantee, but it worked for me on the first try.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there without actually contacting you. Also, make sure you've certified for all weeks if that's required in your state.

the whole system is a joke tbh. they expect us to survive on air while they take their sweet time "processing" our claims. im in the same boat, been waiting since november. this is why we need ubi 😤

•Preach! 🙌 The system is totally broken. We're just numbers to them, not real people with bills to pay and families to feed.

•UBI would be amazing, but let's be real, it's not happening anytime soon. We gotta work with what we've got for now. Stay strong, friend!

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research on speeding up the unemployment payment process: 1. Be persistent: Call every day if you have to. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. 2. Document everything: Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what was said. This can be helpful if you need to escalate your case. 3. Use multiple contact methods: Try phone, email, and even social media. Some people have had luck tweeting at their state's unemployment office. 4. Check for errors: Review your claim carefully. Sometimes a small mistake can cause big delays. 5. Appeal if necessary: If you're denied, don't be afraid to appeal. Many denials are overturned on appeal. 6. Contact your representatives: As others have mentioned, your local and state reps can often help. 7. Join advocacy groups: Look for unemployment support groups in your area or online. They often have good info and can sometimes put pressure on the system. 8. Be prepared: When you do get through, have all your info ready. The more prepared you are, the smoother the call will go. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. I know it's tough, but keep pushing!

•Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But seriously, I hadn't thought of that. Do you know if they accept faxes for all types of documents?
