ESD account stuck on 'pending' status for second week despite approved claim - help!

I'm getting really frustrated with my unemployment claim right now. My account has been showing 'pending' for the second week in a row even though I received an approval letter three weeks ago. I've done all my job search activities (logged the full 3 per week), filed my weekly claims on Sundays before noon, and uploaded all the requested documentation. My eServices account shows I've been accepted for benefits, but no money has been deposited yet. The payment status just says 'pending' with no explanation. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there something else I need to do that I'm missing? I've tried calling but can't get through after being on hold for 2+ hours multiple times this week.

This happened to me back in January. Even though your claim was approved, there might be an issue with your weekly claims that triggered an automatic review. Check if there's an 'Alert' or 'Action Required' notification anywhere in your eServices account. Also, did you answer 'yes' to any of the questions about being unable to work, refusing work, or working part-time during those weeks? Those can trigger a pending status while they review your situation.

Thanks for responding! I just double-checked and don't see any alerts or action items in my account. I did answer 'yes' to being available for work all days and 'no' to everything else (no work, no earnings, no refused jobs). I'm wondering if it's just a processing delay? But two weeks seems excessive...

When a claim stays in pending status for multiple weeks despite approval, it's usually one of three things:\n\n1. Identity verification issue (even if you submitted documents)\n2. Employer dispute/response that triggered adjudication\n3. System flag from something in your weekly certification\n\nUnfortunately, the only way to get a clear answer is to speak with an ESD agent directly. They can see notes on your claim that aren't visible to you in the portal. I'd recommend continuing to file your weekly claims while you try to resolve this.

That's helpful, thanks. My former employer was downsizing and I was laid off with a group of 20 others, so I doubt they're disputing it. I did upload my driver's license and SS card for identity verification. Maybe it's still processing? I'll keep filing weekly.

That's actually really good to hear! Maybe I just need to be patient. Did you ever call them or did it just resolve on its own?

ESD's systems are DELIBERATELY designed to be confusing and frustrating!! They hope people will just give up trying to get benefits they DESERVE. I was stuck in pending for FOUR WEEKS last year and when I finally got through they said it was a \

This is absolutely true. The system is rigged against claimants. My brother's claim was pending for 6 weeks and when he finally got through, they fixed it in literally 3 minutes. It's ridiculous.

I had the same problem with my claim staying in pending status. After trying to call for days with no luck, I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an ESD agent in about 30 minutes instead of spending hours on hold. The agent told me my claim had a flag that needed to be removed manually. Might be worth checking out if you're desperate - their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Saved me weeks of waiting!

Is that service legit? Sounds kinda sketchy to me. Has anyone else used it?

It's definitely legit - they don't access your claim or anything, they just connect your call to ESD. The agent I spoke with was an actual ESD employee who fixed my claim. Worth it for me after wasting days trying to get through.

Make sure you're continuing to file your weekly claims even while your status is pending. If/when they resolve whatever the issue is, they'll release payments for all eligible weeks you've claimed. If you miss filing for a week, you might lose that week's benefits entirely.

Definitely am keeping up with my weekly claims! I've been filing every Sunday morning without fail. Good reminder though - wouldn't want to miss out on any weeks after waiting so long.

Have you checked if your bank account info is entered correctly in the system? My friend had a similar issue and it turned out her direct deposit details had a typo. Might be worth double-checking that section of your account.

That's actually a good point I hadn't considered. Just checked and my banking info looks correct, but thanks for the suggestion!

One other thing to check - log into your eServices account and go to

I just checked the Notices/Letters section and don't see anything newer than my approval letter from three weeks ago. No requests for additional info or documentation. This is really puzzling. I guess I'll keep trying to reach someone by phone.

Update us if you find out what was causing the pending status. It might help others in the same situation. And as others have mentioned, definitely keep filing your weekly claims while you sort this out.

I definitely will update once I figure out what's going on. Thanks for all the help everyone - this situation is stressful but it helps knowing I'm not alone in dealing with these kinds of ESD issues.
