Filed my ESD weekly claim Sunday but payment still pending - normal wait time?

So I filed my weekly unemployment claim on Sunday (like I always do) but it's still showing as 'pending' in my account. Usually by Wednesday morning the money is in my bank account but nothing yet. The eServices portal just says 'processing' with no explanation. Is this normal right now? Are other people experiencing delays this week? I'm starting to get nervous since rent is due next week and I'm cutting it close this month.

ESD processing times are pretty variable these days. It's only been a few days, so I wouldn't worry too much yet. Their system sometimes gets backed up midweek. If it's still pending by Friday, then you might want to contact them. Check if there's any notification in your eServices account about needing additional information - sometimes they need verification but don't clearly tell you.

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. I don't see any alerts or messages asking for more info, just the pending status. I'll wait until Friday before freaking out!

Glad it's not just me! Let me know if yours goes through and I'll do the same. Fingers crossed we both get paid soon.

There's actually a slight delay in processing this week - I filed Sunday morning and mine just switched to paid status about an hour ago. ESD is doing some system maintenance according to their website, though they didn't prominently announce it. If you check the very bottom of the eServices dashboard there's a tiny notice about "temporary processing delays" this week. Their definition of "temporary" is pretty loose though!

Where exactly did you see this notice? I'm looking at my eServices dashboard and don't see anything about delays. Can you screenshot it?

I filed Sunday EVERY WEEK for 4 months and ESD always paid by Tuesday. This is RIDICULOUS. They expect us to file on time but can't even get payments out when people need them. Classic government inefficiency! Bet they'd be quick to penalize if we filed late though!!

Let's not jump to conclusions here. While frustrating, payment delays occasionally happen for various reasons - system maintenance, higher volume of claims needing review, or even bank processing times. In my experience working with benefit systems, a 3-4 day processing time is actually still within normal parameters. If it extends beyond 5 business days, then there might be a legitimate issue to address.

I had this issue last month - my payment got stuck in pending status for nearly a week. I called ESD but couldn't get through (surprise). I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have this video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Turns out there was a flag on my account for "potential earnings" they needed to verify, even though I hadn't worked! The agent removed the hold immediately. Might be worth trying if your payment doesn't process by tomorrow.

That's really helpful, thanks! I'll definitely check that out if mine doesn't change to paid by tomorrow. Did they explain why there was no notification about the hold in your account?

anyone else notice that payments always get delayed right before holidays or the 1st of the month when rent is due? seems fishy to me...

I've tracked ESD payment patterns for nearly two years now as part of my work helping claimants, and there's no statistical correlation between payment delays and rent due dates or holidays. What does happen is that system maintenance is often scheduled midweek during lower usage periods, and sometimes bank holidays can affect direct deposit timing. But ESD doesn't intentionally delay payments based on calendar dates.

Update: Mine just switched from pending to paid! Check your accounts - they might be processing a batch of claims right now.

Just checked and mine switched to paid too! Thanks everyone for the reassurance. The payment date shows tomorrow, so hopefully it hits my account by Friday morning. Really appreciate all the responses!
