ESD claim stuck in 'processing-web' status after holiday weekend - normal?
I filed my weekly unemployment claim last Sunday as usual, but it's still showing 'processing-web' status five days later. Normally by now it would have changed to 'paid' or at least 'processing.' I'm getting worried because rent is due next week and I need that payment. I know there was a holiday this week - does that usually cause delays? This is my 6th week claiming, and I've never seen it take this long. Anyone else experiencing the same thing with their claim this week?

•That makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one! Have you tried calling them?

This happens EVERY time there's a holiday. The ESD system batch processes claims on a specific schedule, and holidays push everything back by at least 1-2 business days. You'll probably see it change to paid status by end of day tomorrow, with funds arriving in your account/card Monday or Tuesday. Pro tip: Always plan for these delays around holidays! There's a holiday calendar on the ESD website that shows processing schedules.

•Thanks for explaining! I checked my payment history and you're right - there was a similar delay after Memorial Day but I forgot about it. I'll check out that calendar.

OMG I'm freaking out about this too!!! My claim has been processing-web since SUNDAY and I have bills due!! Do you think there's something wrong with our claims?? What if they're reviewing everyone's claims again? Last time this happened to me they put me in adjudication for 3 weeks with NO WARNING and I almost got evicted!!

•breathe, friend... just a holiday delay. happens all the time. if ur previous payments went thru fine, this one will too. just takes an extra day or 2 after holidays.

Holiday delays are normal with ESD processing. Their system batches claims on specific days, and when a holiday occurs, the entire schedule shifts. Here's what's happening: 1. Regular weekly claims filed Sunday typically process Monday-Tuesday 2. With a holiday, processing shifts to Tuesday-Wednesday 3. Payment verification then takes another 24-48 hours 4. Direct deposits/cards are loaded the following business day So you're looking at a payment probably hitting your account Monday. This isn't an adjudication issue or a problem with your claim - just standard holiday processing delays.

•This is super helpful, thank you! The ESD website doesn't explain these schedules very clearly. I wish they'd send an email notification about holiday delays.

I went through this during Christmas last year - took almost 10 days to get my payment! ESD is terrible with communication. I called about 50 times and could never get through to ask what was happening. Always prepare for delays around holidays.

•If you ever need to actually reach someone at ESD, try using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It helped me get through when I was stuck with a similar issue last month. They have a system that navigates the phone menus and holds your place in line, then calls you when an agent is ready. Saved me hours of frustration! There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Definitely worth it when you're in a situation where you absolutely need to talk to someone.

•Look not everyone has been on unemployment for years and knows all the little quirks of the system! Some of us are new to this whole nightmare process and when money doesn't show up when expected it's SCARY!!!

For future reference, here's how the ESD payment schedule typically works: - File weekly claim on Sunday - Processing Monday-Tuesday (add a day for holidays) - Payment processing Tuesday-Wednesday (add a day for holidays) - Funds available Wednesday-Thursday (add a day for holidays) So with a Monday holiday, expect everything to be pushed back to Friday or the following Monday. Also worth knowing that end-of-month claims (like the ones that overlap June/July or December/January) often take longer because of ESD's accounting cycles.

•This is super helpful - I'm going to save this info for future reference. I had no idea about the end-of-month claims taking longer too. Good to know!
