ESD claim stuck 'Processing-Web' status for 4+ days - normal wait time?

I filed a couple of unemployment claims last Thursday online and they're still showing as 'Pending' and then 'Processing-Web' status. The ESD website says payments typically process within 48 hours, but it's been 4 days now (I know today is a holiday). Should I be worried? Is this normal processing time in 2025 or is something wrong with my claim? I really need this money to come through for rent next week. Anyone else experiencing delays with their weekly claims recently?

It's pretty normal for claims to take longer than what the website says, especially if it's your first few claims or if there's a holiday involved. My claims were taking 5-7 days consistently in January. The "Processing-Web" status is actually good - it means your claim is in the system and being worked on, not stuck in limbo. Since today is a holiday, you probably won't see movement until tomorrow at earliest.

Thanks for the reassurance! It's my 3rd and 4th claims, so not brand new. The first two processed in exactly 2 days so I got nervous when these ones are taking longer. Do you think I should call them or just keep waiting?

The Processing-Web status means your claim passed the initial automated checks and is now in the payment processing queue. Several things could cause delays: 1. Holidays always add 1-2 business days 2. If you reported any earnings or work hours 3. If you answered any questions differently than usual 4. ESD's regular system maintenance (happens monthly) 5. Random verification checks (they do these periodically) I'd give it until Wednesday before worrying. The system updates overnight, so check tomorrow morning.

Update: It's now Wednesday morning and still stuck in Processing-Web status. Should I be trying to call ESD at this point? I'm getting really worried.

YES call them!!!! This exact thing happened to me last month and it turned out there was a "verification flag" on my account that nobody told me about!!! I waited 3 weeks thinking it was just slow processing before I finally got through to someone. Don't make my mistake. The longer you wait the more backed up you'll get on bills.

this happens like every other month for me lol. processing-web usually means ur good but sometimes random flags happen. had one claim take 12 days earlier this year for no reason then the next week was normal again

12 days?! I can't wait that long... I have rent due on Monday. Did you ever figure out why it took so long that time?

I went through this exact scenario in February. If you need to reach ESD quickly, use Claimyr (claimyr.com). It helped me get through to an ESD agent in about 30 minutes after I'd been trying to call for days with no luck. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 When I finally got through, it turned out there was a simple verification issue with my last claim that was holding everything up. The agent fixed it in minutes and my payment processed that night.

Thank you! I've never heard of this service before but I'm desperate at this point. Just watched the video and it looks pretty straightforward. Going to try it right now - really appreciate the tip!

I did report 5 hours of gig work on one of the claims! That might explain it. But both claims are delayed, even the one with no earnings reported.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU GIVE UP!!!! I had THREE CLAIMS in a row get stuck in "processing" last month and every time I called they gave me a different excuse. First it was "system maintenance" then it was "random verification" then it was "we needed additional information" BUT NOBODY CONTACTED ME TO ASK FOR IT!!!! You HAVE TO CALL THEM or they will let your claims sit there FOREVER!!

While I understand your frustration, this isn't entirely accurate. Most claims do process automatically without issues. But yes, if a claim is stuck for more than 5-7 business days, calling is definitely the right move. The system isn't perfect but it's not deliberately designed to make people give up.

FINAL UPDATE: Success! I used the Claimyr service that was recommended and got through to ESD in about 20 minutes. Turns out there was a random identity verification flag on my account. The agent cleared it immediately and said both payments should process tonight. Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

Great news! For future reference, when your claim gets a random verification flag, you should also receive an alert in your ESD account and sometimes an email. It's worth checking your account alerts section and spam folder regularly. Glad you got it resolved quickly!
