PA UC claim still saying 'in progress' 3 days after Sunday filing - normal wait time?

Is anyone else having their claim stuck in 'in progress' status? I filed my weekly claim on Sunday morning like usual (around 8 AM), but it's still showing as 'in progress' in my portal. Normally by Tuesday night, it at least changes to 'payment in process' but nothing's happening. This is my 7th week filing and I've never had it take this long before. Should I be worried? Is there some kind of system delay happening? My rent is due next week and I'm starting to stress out...

Thanks for letting me know! Did you eventually get paid the normal amount? I just need to know if I should be calling them or if it'll resolve itself.

This happens periodically when their system gets overloaded or they're doing backend updates. As long as you didn't get any error messages when filing and received your confirmation number, it should process normally. PA UC typically has 10 business days to process a claim, though they usually do it faster. I wouldn't worry until it's been 5+ business days with no change.

That's reassuring, thank you! I did get my confirmation number and screenshot it (learned that lesson the hard way). I guess I'll try to be patient for a couple more days.

DONT WAIT!!! Call them NOW!!! I waited last month when this happened and it turned out there was an "open issue" that needed to be resolved but the system didn't show it. I lost 3 WEEKS of benefits because I waited thinking it would resolve itself. The system is BROKEN!!!

Oh no, now I'm worried again. I've been trying to call but keep getting the busy signal. I've called 23 times today and can't get through. Is there another way to contact them that actually works?

I was in the same situation last month and used Claimyr to get through to PA UC. It's a service that connects you with an agent without waiting on hold. I was skeptical but it worked - got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. They have a video demo on their site showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. You can check it out at claimyr.com. For me, it was worth it to get my issue resolved quickly instead of waiting weeks.

dont stress too much, mine was in progress for 4 days this week and then suddenly changed to paid yesterday. sometimes theres random delays. unless u get an actual issue message or email, ur probably fine

That's exactly what I needed to hear! It just changed to 'payment in process' this morning! Such a relief. I wish their system was more consistent but at least it's moving now.

This could also be related to the system maintenance they were doing last weekend. I got an email about it but deleted it. Something about updating claim processing systems over the weekend. Anyone else get that email?

Yes, they sent a notice about scheduled maintenance from Sunday 1am-5am. Sometimes these updates cause processing delays for a few days afterward. Always good to check your PA UC dashboard messages and emails for these announcements.

my friend works at the unemployment office and she said they're super backed up right now because of seasonal construction layoffs. they get thousands of new claims in march when projects don't start back up on schedule and it slows everything down. but she said if u got your confirmation number ur fine

And you BELIEVE that??? They ALWAYS have excuses!!! The system has been "backed up" for FIVE YEARS!!! They need to FIX IT already!!! I'm so sick of their incompetence!!!

UPDATE: My status just changed to 'payment in process' this morning! Should hit my Money Network card tomorrow according to the portal. Thanks everyone for the reassurance (and the panic lol). I'll definitely try to be more patient next time, but also not wait too long if there seems to be a real problem.
