Try Internet Explorer if u have it. I know it sounds crazy but their site is so outdated sometimes the newer browsers don't work right with it.
laugh all u want but it worked for me when nothing else did! government sites are stuck in the stone age
lol i'll try anything at this point! thx
no one knows exactly when the site will be back up. it could be hours or days becuz thats how ny unemployment rolls. ur best bet is to physically visit an office if u need something urgently or use claimyr.com to get ahold of a human. its worth it when ur desperate
Have you tried the callback feature on their website? I couldn't get through by phone for weeks, then requested a callback online and actually got one 3 days later. The agent fixed my issue in 10 minutes.
Wait what callback feature?? I don't see that anywhere on the site
It's buried in there. Go to your dashboard > Contact Us > Request Callback. But honestly if you can't find it just use claimyr.com - it's basically the same thing but actually works reliably.
i had this EXACT problem. turns out my identity verification failed but they never bothered to tell me! I only found out when i finally got through to a tier 2 agent who actually looked at my file. had to upload my drivers license and ss card again. got paid 2 weeks later.
How did you specifically ask for a tier 2 agent? Whenever I call I just get whoever answers
You have to be direct. When they first answer, say "I need to speak with a claims specialist or tier 2 agent about a pending claim that's been approved but not paying." If they say they can help you, say "With all due respect, I've been told multiple times my claim is processing but it's been X months. I need someone who can actually see what's blocking my payments.
Called NY unemployment yesterday because I was in the same situation. The agent said the dollar amount on your account is the MAXIMUM you can receive, not a guaranteed amount. You only get what you claim before your BYE date.
Tried calling unemployment for WEEKS with no luck. Finally used claimyr.com after someone here recommended it. Got through to a rep in under an hour who fixed my issue immediately. Worth every penny considering how many hours of my life I wasted trying to call them myself.
Yeah it works. They basically call repeatedly using their system until they get through, then they connect you. Saved me literal days of frustration.
just checked it out. might try this tomorrow cause im at my wits end with these phone lines
Have you tried calling your local congressman or representative? Their offices often have connections with both unemployment AND the IRS. I did this last year when I couldn't get through to either and my rep's office fixed both issues within 2 weeks.
Just a heads up - NY unemployment has a separate number for claims with specific issues. Depending on what your problem is, calling that number instead of the main one might be more successful. You can find the different department numbers on their website.

Side note: make sure you document EVERYTHING. Keep track of the weeks you work, hours, pay stubs, etc. NY unemployment loves to randomly audit people and if your numbers don't match up they can make you pay everything back. Ask me how I know... 🙃

•Yes definitely start a spreadsheet! I had to pay back $3800 because my employer reported different hours than what I claimed. I was off by like 2-3 hours some weeks because I was estimating. Not worth the headache!

•THIS!!! The system is designed to catch you in the smallest mistakes I swear.

Unpopular opinion but the NY unemployment system actually works pretty well compared to other states. My sister lives in Florida and their system is a NIGHTMARE on purpose to deny claims. At least in NY you actually get paid when eligible.

•LOL tell that to the thousands of us who couldn't get through on the phone lines for MONTHS during the pandemic

•Fair point, but I'm talking about now. The system handles partial claims and variable hours pretty smoothly which is what OP is asking about.
