Help needed: What docs/info required to finish unemployment claim filing?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to finish filing my unemployment claim and I'm feeling a bit lost. Not sure what documents or info I need to complete it. Anyone been through this recently and can give me some pointers? I really don't want to mess this up and delay getting my benefits. Thanks in advance for any help!

Ugh, been there done that. It's such a pain in the ass. Make sure you have your social security number, drivers license, and employment history for the last 18 months ready. They'll ask for dates you worked and why you left each job. Also, have your bank info handy for direct deposit. Good luck!

•Thanks so much! This is really helpful. Do you remember if they asked for any specific documents from previous employers?

•No problem! They didn't ask me for any specific docs from employers, but having your last pay stub can be helpful. Oh, and if you were laid off, any separation paperwork could come in handy too.

•Don't forget your W-2 forms! Those are super important too. I almost forgot mine and it delayed my claim by like 2 weeks 🤦♂️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds sketchy af. You sure this isn't a scam?

•Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

•How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was ready. Way better than doing it myself.

Pro tip: double check EVERYTHING before you submit. I made a typo in my SSN and it took forever to get it fixed. The system is so backed up that even small mistakes can cause major delays.

Anyone else feel like they're playing the lottery with these claims? I swear it's easier to win the Powerball than to get unemployment benefits these days 🤣

•LOL for real tho. I've been waiting 6 weeks and still nothing. Starting to think I should just buy lottery tickets instead 🤡

•Y'all need to chill. It takes time but it does work. Just be patient and make sure you file your weekly claims on time.

Here's a comprehensive guide to filing your unemployment claim: 1. Gather all necessary documents: - Social Security card - Driver's license or state ID - Employment history for the last 18 months (company names, addresses, dates of employment) - Reason for unemployment from each job - Most recent pay stub - W-2 forms from the last year - Bank account info for direct deposit 2. Create an online account on your state's unemployment website 3. Fill out the initial claim form carefully. Double-check all info before submitting. 4. After submitting, you may need to wait for identity verification. This can take a few days to a couple of weeks. 5. Once verified, you'll need to file weekly or bi-weekly claims to continue receiving benefits. 6. Be prepared for a phone interview. They may call to verify details about your employment and reason for unemployment. 7. If approved, benefits usually start within 2-3 weeks of your initial claim, but it can take longer if there are any issues or if the system is backlogged. Remember, requirements can vary by state, so check your local unemployment office website for specific details. Good luck!

•Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's not the 1980s anymore, why is everything still so clunky?

Has anyone had luck calling the unemployment office directly? I've been trying for days and can't get through.

•Try calling right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.
