Need help filing EDD unemployment claim - what should I expect?

Ugh, filing for unemployment is such a pain. I just went through it last month. Make sure you have all your employment info ready - dates you worked, employer names, addresses, etc. Also, be prepared to wait on hold FOREVER when you call. It's ridiculous how long it takes to get through to someone.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. PSA: Watch out for scams! There are a lot of people trying to take advantage of folks on unemployment. Never give out your personal info to anyone claiming to be from the unemployment office unless you're 100% sure it's legit.
