Need help with EDD appeal process - what to expect?

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an appeal for my unemployment benefits and I'm feeling pretty lost. Has anyone gone through this process before? What should I expect when I finally get to talk to someone about it? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, appeals are the worst. I had to go through one last year and it was a total nightmare. Make sure you have ALL your documents ready when you talk to them. They'll ask for everything under the sun.

For real tho, they wanted like my great-grandmothers birth certificate or smthn šŸ™„ Be prepared to wait on hold forever too

What kind of documents did they ask for? I'm about to start this process and I'm freaking out!

@profile 3 They wanted pay stubs, termination letter, any correspondence with my ex-employer... basically my whole life story lol. Just gather everything you can think of!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me so much time and frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can confirm, I used it last week and got through in like 30 mins. Total game changer šŸ‘

Listen up, cause I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to know about the appeal process: • First, make sure you file your appeal within the deadline. Miss that, and you're SOL. • Gather ALL documentation related to your case. I'm talking pay stubs, emails, texts, everything. • Write a clear, concise statement explaining why you believe the decision was wrong. Stick to facts, not emotions. • If possible, get a letter from your former employer supporting your case. • Be prepared for a hearing. It might be over the phone or in person. • During the hearing, stay calm and professional. Answer questions directly and honestly. • Follow up after the hearing if you don't hear back within the timeframe they give you. Remember, this process can take weeks or even months. Stay patient and persistent. Good luck!

Quick question - how long did your appeal process take from start to finish?

@profile 10 Mine took about 2.5 months, but I've heard of some taking up to 6. It really depends on how backlogged the system is.

Preach! šŸ™Œ It's like they're hoping we'll just give up and go away

Calm down, Karen. The system's not perfect but at least we have one. Try living in a country without any unemployment benefits.

Has anyone tried contacting their local representative for help with their appeal? I've heard some people have had success with that route.

Pro tip: keep a log of every single interaction you have with the unemployment office. Date, time, who you spoke to, what was said. It'll save your butt if theres any discrepancies later on.

Honestly? A glass of wine and some Netflix. Sometimes you just gotta distract yourself šŸ·šŸ“ŗ
