Won UI appeal - How to claim missed weeks & what to ask claim specialist?

Hey everyone, I just won my appeal for unemployment benefits and I have some questions. Has anyone here dealt with claiming weeks that were missed during the appeal process? Also, what should I expect when speaking with a claim specialist about this? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Congrats on winning your appeal! šŸŽ‰ That's a huge relief, I bet. When I went through something similar, I was able to claim some of the missed weeks, but not all of them. It's definitely worth asking about though. Make sure you have all your documentation ready when you talk to the specialist.

Thanks for the advice! Did you have to provide any specific documentation for the missed weeks? I'm trying to gather everything I might need.

Yeah, I had to show proof that I was actively looking for work during those weeks. So job applications, emails to potential employers, that kind of stuff. Also had my original claim denial letter and appeal decision handy. Better to have too much info than not enough!

This is great advice! I'd also suggest keeping a log of all your calls and interactions with the unemployment office. It came in handy for me when there were discrepancies.

Listen up, because this is important. When you talk to the claim specialist, be prepared for a long conversation. Here's what you need to do: ā€¢ Have all your documents ready. This includes your original claim, appeal decision, and any correspondence you've had with the unemployment office. ā€¢ Be ready to explain your situation clearly and concisely. Practice beforehand if you need to. ā€¢ Ask about the specific process for claiming missed weeks. Every state is different, so what worked for someone else might not apply to you. ā€¢ Take notes during the call. You'll want to remember everything they tell you. ā€¢ If they can't help you immediately, ask for a follow-up date and get the name of who you spoke with. ā€¢ Don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something. It's your money and your right to know. Remember, patience is key. The system is overloaded, and while that's not your fault, being polite can go a long way. Good luck!

Hey, congrats on the appeal! Quick question - how long did your appeal process take? I'm in the middle of one now and it feels like it's dragging on forever.

Thanks! My appeal took about 2 months from start to finish. It felt like forever, but I've heard some people waiting even longer. Hang in there!

2 months?! šŸ˜± I'm going on 3 now. This is ridiculous. But thanks for the info, at least I know I'm not alone in this boat.

3 months is nothing, I waited 6 months for my appeal to go through. The system is totally broken šŸ¤”

Pro tip: If you're having trouble getting through to a claim specialist, I found a way that actually works. There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. Was able to talk to someone within an hour instead of spending days trying to get through.

I've used it too. Felt kinda weird paying to talk to unemployment, but it beats wasting entire days on hold.

Pretty sure there is, but it varies by state. You should probably call ASAP to check. Don't wait any longer!

Just a heads up, when I claimed my missed weeks, they didn't pay me for the weeks where I had partial employment. Make sure you report any income accurately to avoid overpayment issues later!

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get what we're entitled to? The whole system needs an overhaul tbh

Preach! šŸ™Œ It's like they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people.

Totally agree. It's a full-time job just trying to get your benefits. And don't even get me started on their website... šŸ¤®
