How long does EDD take to review unemployment appeal? Need advice!
Hey everyone, I need some advice. I just submitted an appeal for my unemployment claim and I'm wondering how long it typically takes for someone to review it. Has anyone gone through this process recently? What should I expect?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I submitted my appeal like 2 months ago and still haven't heard anything back. The waiting game is brutal 😫

2 months?! That's insane. Have you tried calling them to check on the status?

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

$20 seems steep just to talk to someone. The system is so messed up that we have to pay extra just to get basic service 🙄

I get it, but for me, it was worth every penny. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with appeals: 1. Be patient. It can take anywhere from 4-12 weeks for them to review your appeal. 2. Make sure you've included ALL relevant documentation with your appeal. 3. Keep checking your online account for updates. 4. If you haven't heard anything after 8 weeks, try to contact them. 5. Consider reaching out to your local state representative for help. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP.

Thank you so much for this detailed response! It's really helpful to have an idea of what to expect. I'll definitely keep all of this in mind.

Great advice! I'd add that keeping a paper trail of everything is crucial. You never know when you might need to reference something.

Has anyone tried faxing their appeal instead of mailing it? I heard it might be faster but idk if that's true.

I tried faxing and it didn't make a difference. Still took forever 🤷♂️

Pro tip: If you can, try to find out which office is handling your appeal. Sometimes you can get more specific info if you know who to ask.

That's a great idea! How would I go about finding that out?

You can try asking when you call in, or check any correspondence you've received. Sometimes it'll mention a specific office or branch.
