Submitted fair hearing request 2-3 weeks ago, no update yet. What's the typical wait time? (NYDOL)

Hey everyone, I submitted a request for a fair hearing about 2-3 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm getting a bit anxious about the whole thing. Has anyone else gone through this process recently? How long did it take for you to get an update or decision? Any advice on what I should do next or who I should contact for more information?

I went through this last year. It can take a while, unfortunately. Have you tried calling the office directly to ask for an update? Sometimes that can help speed things up.

I've been trying to call, but I can never get through to a real person. It's so frustrating! šŸ˜¤

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. That's usually the best time to get someone on the line.

Ugh, the waiting game is the worst. I remember when I filed mine, it took almost 2 months before I heard anything back. Hang in there!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before sending out any official communication.

I didn't even think of that! I'll go check right now. Thanks for the tip!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get some answers. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about fair hearings: ā€¢ The typical wait time for a response is 4-6 weeks, but it can vary depending on the complexity of your case and current workload. ā€¢ Make sure you've kept all documentation related to your case. You might need it later. ā€¢ If you haven't already, send a follow-up email or letter. Sometimes things get lost in the shuffle. ā€¢ Keep a log of all your communication attempts (dates, times, who you spoke to if anyone). ā€¢ Check if there's an ombudsman office you can contact. They can sometimes help move things along. ā€¢ Be prepared for the hearing itself. Review your case thoroughly and have all your evidence organized. ā€¢ Consider getting legal advice if your case is complicated or involves a significant amount of money. Remember, patience is key in this process. It's frustrating, but hang in there!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is incredibly helpful. I'll definitely start keeping better records of my communication attempts.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help expedite these things.
