Submitted fair hearing request to NYDOL - how long for case update?
Hey everyone, I submitted a request for a fair hearing and I'm trying to get an update on my case. Has anyone gone through this process recently? How long did it take to hear back? I'm getting a bit anxious waiting for news.

I went through this a few months ago. It took about 6 weeks for me to hear anything back. The waiting is the worst part, hang in there!

•6 weeks?! Ugh, I was hoping it would be quicker than that. Did you do anything to follow up during that time?

•Honestly, I just waited it out. I tried calling a few times but always got stuck in those endless phone menus 🙄 Never actually spoke to a human

•Same boat here. The phone system is a nightmare. I swear they make it difficult on purpose 🤬

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call...

•I get the skepticism, but for me it was worth every penny. Spent hours trying to get through before I found this. Saved me so much time and frustration

•Can confirm, I used it last week. Got through in about 30 mins. Way better than sitting on hold all day 👍

Pro tip: keep a detailed log of all your attempts to contact them. Dates, times, who you spoke to if you manage to get through. It might come in handy during your hearing.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with fair hearings: 1. Be patient. The process can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months. 2. Document everything. Keep a log of all your interactions with the unemployment office. 3. Prepare your case thoroughly. Gather all relevant documents and evidence. 4. Consider getting legal aid. Many non-profits offer free assistance for unemployment cases. 5. Stay persistent but polite when following up. 6. If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via email or their online portal if available. 7. Check your mail frequently. Sometimes they send important updates via snail mail. Remember, the system is overloaded right now, so delays are common. But don't let that discourage you from pursuing your case!

Lol good luck. I've been waiting 5 months for my hearing. The whole system is a joke 🤡

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I heard it might be faster than mailing or uploading online.

•What year is it, 1995? 😂 But for real, I've heard this too. Might be worth a shot!

Just a heads up, they changed some policies last month. Make sure you're up to date on the latest requirements for fair hearings. The DOL website should have the info.
