EDD mistakenly reported me as employed, benefits stopped for 2 weeks. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I didn't get my unemployment benefits for the last 2 weeks and I think there might be an error. The last rep I talked to might have accidentally reported me as returning to work, but I haven't! Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Any advice on how to fix it?

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried calling the EDD? It's probably the fastest way to get it sorted out.

I've been trying to call all morning but can't get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through then.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration.

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, ya know? 🤷♂️

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down dates, times, and names of reps you've talked to. 2. Check your online account for any status changes or messages. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing them through the portal. 4. If all else fails, contact your local assembly member's office. They can often help push things through. 5. Be persistent! Don't give up. Good luck, OP! The system is a mess, but you'll get it sorted out eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my assembly member if I can't get through soon.

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your job search activities too, just in case.

This happened to me last month! Turns out there was a glitch in their system that marked a bunch of people as employed. Took me 3 weeks to get it fixed. Hang in there!

Oh no, 3 weeks? I hope it doesn't take that long for me... 😰

Yeah, it was rough. But once I got through to someone, they fixed it pretty quick. Just keep trying!

Have you tried reaching out on Twitter? Sometimes they respond faster there.

Friendly reminder to everyone: ALWAYS screenshot or save copies of your claim history and any correspondence. It's saved my butt more than once!
