TWC unemployment: Can't update job start date, benefits stopped. How to fix?
I'm so frustrated with the unemployment system right now. I got a new job but the start date changed, and now I can't update it in the system. Because of this, I didn't get my check today. I've been trying to call them for days but can't get through. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it? I'm worried about not getting paid and potentially losing my benefits. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve unemployment system update issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHhKVmjtoSg

Anyone else notice how the system always seems to work fine when they want to cut benefits, but never when we need help? 🤔

•Omg yes! It's like magic how fast they can mess stuff up, but fixing it? Nah, that'll take forever 🙄

•Totally agree. We need reform to make it user-friendly all around.

Claimyr worked for me, but remember to weigh the costs. It's not for everyone, but an option when you're desperate.

•Thanks for sharing. It's good to know it worked for someone, even if it's a paid service.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

•Wait, seriously? $20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so messed up 🤦♂️

•Sounds sketchy. How do you know it's legit?

•I get the skepticism, but I was desperate and it actually worked for me. Yeah, it sucks to pay, but I got my issue resolved in one day instead of waiting weeks.

•How long did you have to wait on hold?

•I tried Claimyr too; it worked faster than I expected. But I agree, it should not have to come to this.

Hey, former EDD employee here. The system is super outdated and overwhelmed. My advice: be persistent, document everything, and if possible, try to get your new employer to contact them directly about the date change. Sometimes that carries more weight.

•Quick question - is there a specific form or process for employers to use when contacting EDD about date changes?

Have you tried tweeting at them? Sometimes public shaming works wonders 😈

•Not a bad idea! Companies seem to respond quickly when their reputation is on the line.

Have you tried going to the unemployment office in person? Sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done with these bureaucrats.

Victoria Jones
•I didn't even know that was an option. Do you need an appointment?

•It depends on your local office. Some take walk-ins, others need appointments. Check their website or give em a call (if you can get through lol

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down every time you try to call, every email you send, every piece of information about your new job. 2. Keep trying to call, but also send emails. Use multiple channels of communication. 3. Reach out to your local state representative. They often have staff dedicated to helping with unemployment issues. 4. If you're really desperate, consider using one of those paid services to get through on the phone. It sucks, but sometimes it's worth it. 5. Don't give up! The system is designed to wear you down, but stay persistent. 6. If all else fails, consider filing an appeal. It's a pain, but it can sometimes get things moving. Remember, you're entitled to these benefits. Don't let the broken system win!

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is so broken. I had a similar issue last month and it took me weeks to get it sorted out. Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling.

This might sound weird, but try calling right when they open or like 5 minutes before they close. I've had luck getting through that way before.

Have you tried updating your info online? Sometimes the website works better than trying to call.

•Yeah, I tried but there's no option to change the start date once it's in the system. So frustrating!

I went through this exact same thing last year! Here's what finally worked for me: I kept a detailed log of every attempt to contact them (date, time, method), then I reached out to my state representative's office with all that documentation. Their constituent services team was able to get through to TWC within 48 hours and got my issue resolved. It's ridiculous that we have to go through a politician's office to get basic customer service, but it worked. Also, try calling at exactly 8:00 AM when they open - I had better luck getting through early morning. Don't give up, you've got this! 💪
