EDD payment delay: Can't reach anyone on phone, been waiting 30+ minutes. Any advice?
Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my unemployment payment. I usually get paid on Thursdays, but this week nothing showed up. I've been trying to get through to someone on the phone for hours. The system keeps saying I'm next in line, but I've been waiting for over 30 minutes now and still no call. It's almost noon and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to actually get through to a real person?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling. I know it sucks, but persistence is key. 2. Try different times of day. Early morning and right before lunch seem to work best. 3. Check your online account for any messages or updates. Sometimes they need additional info and won't tell you. 4. Make sure all your certifications are up to date. 5. If you can't get through by phone, try emailing. It's slow, but sometimes works. 6. As a last resort, contact your local representative or the ombudsman's office. Remember, the system is overloaded right now. It's not your fault, but you gotta be proactive. Don't give up!

Have you tried calling right when they open? I've had some luck getting through if I start dialing at 7:59 AM and keep hitting redial until I get in the queue.

•I'll give that a shot tomorrow, thanks for the tip! Do you know what time they close?

•They close at 5 PM I think. But seriously, don't bother calling later in the day. Early morning is your best bet.

•I've had similar success with calling early. The lines seem to get clogged up real fast after 8 AM.

I know dealing with unemployment systems can be incredibly frustrating, especially when you're financially depending on those payments. The current system is strained beyond its capacity, which is part of the reason you’re facing these delays and interruptions. Tools like Claimyr can indeed help expedite the process of getting through to a representative by automating the hold process. While it is a paid service and might seem unnecessary to some, for many users, the cost sometimes outweighs the stress and time of waiting on hold for hours. However, it’s important to weigh all your options since not everyone is comfortable paying for such a service. Always check for local resources or community support groups that might have alternative suggestions or direct channels to escalate the issue. Persistence through multiple communication channels—whether it be phone calls, emails, or getting in touch with a local representative—can sometimes make a difference in resolving these bureaucratic holdups. Lastly, ensure you’re exploring every option available through the official channels and always keep track of your inquiries and interactions in case you need to reference them in follow-up calls or communications.

•Honestly, it's more about inefficiency than a conspiracy. The infrastructure is just not built for this kind of load.

This is why we need universal basic income. The current system is a joke.

•A balanced approach could still provide a safety net without overhauling the entire system.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems like a lot just to make a phone call.

•Wait, you have to PAY to talk to unemployment? That's messed up. 😡

•I know it sounds weird, but I swear it's legit. I was desperate and tried it. Got through in like an hour instead of days of trying. Worth it for me, but I get why some people might not want to pay.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with this for months now. It's so frustrating! Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

•I didn't even think of that. How do I find out who my local rep is?

Mohammed Khan
•Just google "[your state] find my representative". They usually have a form on their website where you can explain your situation. It's worth a shot!

•Definitely reach out to your rep. They can sometimes expedite things or at least get you some answers.

Has anyone else noticed that their website is down like every other day? How are we supposed to certify if we can't even log in? 🤦♂️

•omg yes! I thought it was just me. So frustrating!

•Pro tip: try certifying late at night or early morning. Less traffic on the site.
