NYDOL: No unemployment payment for 7 weeks, can't reach live agent. Help!
I've been waiting for my unemployment payment for 7 weeks now and I can't get through to a live agent. I'm starting to worry about my finances. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to reach someone at the unemployment office?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat a few months ago. It's so frustrating when you can't get through to anyone. Have you tried calling right when they open? That sometimes worked for me.

•Yeah, I've tried that. No luck so far. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach anyone 😤

•Pro tip: call at 7:59am and keep redialing until you get through. It's annoying but it worked for me after a week of trying.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate enough to try anything. The $20 was worth it to finally get my claim sorted.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Yeah, basically they have a system that keeps dialing and navigating the phone menu. Once a real person picks up, it forwards the call to you. Saved me hours of frustration.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with unemployment claims.

7 weeks?! That's insane. The system is so broken. I've been waiting for 5 weeks and I'm already at my wits end. How are we supposed to survive like this?

Here's what worked for me after dealing with this nightmare for 2 months: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. 2. Use social media. Tweet at your state's DOL account. Sometimes they respond faster there. 3. Contact your state representative or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can escalate your case. 4. If all else fails, file a complaint with the state ombudsman's office. 5. Keep trying different times to call. I finally got through at 3:45pm on a Wednesday. Don't give up! It's a frustrating process, but persistence pays off. Good luck!

I hate to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you entered all your info correctly? I spent weeks trying to get through only to realize I had fat-fingered my SSN when I first applied. 🤦♂️

•Oh man, that must have been so frustrating! I'm pretty sure I entered everything correctly, but I'll double-check just in case. Thanks for the tip!

This might sound crazy, but have you tried faxing them? I know it's 2023, but I actually got a response when I sent a fax explaining my situation. Worth a shot if you're desperate!
