EDD application not paid after weeks - how to actually reach someone?

Has anyone else been waiting forever for their unemployment application to be processed? I filed weeks ago and still haven't received any payment. The office keeps closing before I can get through on the phone. I'm getting really worried about making ends meet. Any advice on how to actually talk to someone or speed this up?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Been waiting for over a month now and can't get anyone on the phone. It's so frustrating! Have you tried emailing them? I heard sometimes that works better than calling.

I tried emailing last week but haven't heard anything back yet. This whole system is a mess 😤

Emails are useless, they never respond. Your best bet is to keep calling first thing in the morning when they open.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'll try calling again tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Got through to an agent in about an hour.

20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep when we're already broke from waiting on unemployment 😩

I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Beats calling for weeks and getting nowhere.

Pro tip: call your local state representative's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push your claim through. Worked for me after waiting 2 months!

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: 1. Persistence is key. Call every day, multiple times if you can. 2. Try different numbers. Sometimes the main line is jammed but other departments can transfer you. 3. Be prepared with all your info when you do get through. Have your claim number, ID, and all relevant dates ready. 4. If you get a unhelpful rep, politely end the call and try again. Some are way more knowledgeable than others. 5. Document everything. Write down who you talked to, when, and what they said. 6. Check your online account regularly for updates or requests for additional info. 7. If all else fails, contact your local assemblymember or state senator. They can often cut through the red tape. Hang in there, everyone. I know it's tough but keep pushing!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try some of these strategies.

This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit. Super helpful info!

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? 🤔 It's like they're hoping we'll just stop trying to get what we're owed.

100% agree. It's a feature, not a bug 🐛

Take off the tinfoil hat, bro. They're just understaffed and overwhelmed.

Maybe, but doesn't change the fact that people are suffering because of their incompetence.

I finally got through last week and they told me my claim was denied because of a typo on my application. Now I have to appeal and wait even longer. I'm so done with this BS 😫

Hey OP, what industry did you work in? Some industries have special programs or extensions available. Might be worth looking into!

I was in hospitality. Didn't know about special programs, I'll def check that out. Thanks!
