No unemployment payment for 6 weeks - how to get through to EDD?

I haven't been paid for 6 weeks now and I'm starting to get really worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get through to someone at the unemployment office? I've tried calling but I can never get through. This is so frustrating!

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Been waiting for 7 weeks now. The system is completely broken. I've tried calling every day but it's always busy. idk what else to do at this point 😫

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that. No luck. It's like they don't even pick up the phones anymore.

7 weeks?! That's insane. The government needs to get their act together. People are suffering!

I finally found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

I was skeptical too, but I can confirm it worked for me. Got through in about 2 hours.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. The system is so messed up that we have to pay just to talk to someone 🤦‍♂️

I get it, but for me it was worth it. I was able to finally resolve my issue and get my payments started.

Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

This is ridiculous. The unemployment system is a joke. They expect us to survive without income for weeks on end? How are we supposed to pay bills?

Preach! 👏 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's not fit for purpose anymore.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. 2. Use the online portal if possible. Sometimes issues can be resolved there without needing to call. 3. If you do need to call, be persistent. Call multiple times a day if necessary. 4. Reach out to your state representative or senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping with these issues. 5. Check if there are any local legal aid organizations that can assist you. 6. Join Facebook groups or other online communities for unemployment support. Sometimes you can get insider tips there. Hang in there, OP. I know it's tough, but keep pushing!

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I heard that sometimes gets faster results than mailing or uploading online.

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But for real, if it works, I'm willing to try anything at this point.

I feel for you, OP. The waiting game is the worst. Have you checked your claim status online? Sometimes there are updates there that can give you an idea of what's going on.

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a small error on my application that held everything up. Once I got through and fixed it, the payments came through pretty quickly. Keep trying!

That's good to know. I'll double-check my application to make sure everything is correct. Thanks for the tip!
