Unemployment payments suddenly stopped - no response from EDD. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. My unemployment payments have suddenly stopped coming through. It's been a few weeks now and I'm starting to get really worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what could be causing the delay or what I should do next? I've tried calling the unemployment office but can't seem to get through to a real person. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I went through something similar last month. Have you checked your online account to see if there's any messages or updates? Sometimes they need additional info and won't tell you directly.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did check my account but there's nothing new there. It's so frustrating 😤

This happened to me too! Turns out they needed proof of job search activities. Double check that section of ur account

The unemployment system is such a joke rn. I've been waiting 6 weeks for my first payment. Feels like were all just screaming into the void 🤡

Hey there, I've been through this rodeo before and here's what I've learned: 1. Keep calling. I know it sucks, but persistence pays off. 2. Check your online account daily for updates or requests for information. 3. Make sure you're still certifying for benefits every week, even if you're not getting paid. 4. If you have a local unemployment office, try going in person if possible. 5. Reach out to your local state representative. They sometimes can help push things along. 6. Double-check that your bank info hasn't changed or expired. 7. Look into any recent changes in unemployment laws that might affect your eligibility. Hang in there, OP. The system is overwhelmed but keep at it!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait once they connected you?

Only about 5 minutes! Way better than the hours I spent trying to get through on my own

Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But hey, if it works, it works. I'll give it a shot!

This might sound crazy, but try tweeting at your state's unemployment office. I did that out of desperation and got a DM with a direct number to call. Worth a shot! 🤷‍♂️
