NYDOL: No unemployment payments for 7 weeks, can't reach live agent. Help!

I've been waiting for my unemployment payments for 7 weeks now (5 weeks from this year and 2 from last year). I filed my claim on January 8th and my weekly benefit amount is supposed to be around $450. I've tried calling but can't get through to a live agent. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get this resolved? I'm starting to worry about my finances.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. Have you tried checking your online account to see if there are any pending issues or required documents? Sometimes they don't notify you if something's missing.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've checked my online account multiple times, but everything seems to be in order. No pending issues or missing documents that I can see. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: take screenshots of your account showing no issues. You might need them later if things get messy πŸ‘€

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

I've heard about this. Seems kinda sketchy to pay for something that should be free. But I guess if it works... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I get the hesitation, but when you're missing weeks of payments, $20 to actually talk to someone is a small price to pay. It's not ideal, but it got the job done for me.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster. Worth a shot!

7 weeks without payment is ridiculous! The system is so broken. I've been dealing with issues for months now. It's like they want us to give up 😀

Preach! πŸ™Œ The whole unemployment system needs a major overhaul. It's not equipped to handle high volume situations.

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about NYDOL delays: 1. System Overload: The department is still dealing with a backlog from the pandemic. 2. Identity Verification: Make sure your identity is fully verified in the system. 3. Work Search Requirements: Ensure you're meeting and documenting all work search activities. 4. Claim Errors: Double-check that all info on your claim is 100% accurate. 5. Employer Disputes: Sometimes employers contest claims, causing delays. Steps to take: - Keep filing your weekly claims even if you're not getting paid. - Check your spam folder for any missed communications. - Try calling right when they open or just before closing. - Use the online message center to leave detailed inquiries. - Consider the third-party calling service others have mentioned if all else fails. Hang in there, and don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease in these situations.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is incredibly helpful. I'll double-check everything you mentioned and try those steps. Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out!

Have you checked if you entered the correct SSN and PIN? I once had a similar issue and it turned out I had fat-fingered my SSN when filing πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

β€’

Oh man, I hope that's not it! But how can I verify without being able to reach anyone? Is there a way to check online?

β€’

Unfortunately, you cant see the full SSN online for security reasons. Might have to bite the bullet and use one of those calling services to get through to an agent. Better than waiting another 7 weeks!

Quick question - did you have any gaps in filing your weekly claims? Sometimes missing a week can cause the whole thing to get held up.

Emily Sanjay

β€’

Nope, I've been diligent about filing every single week. That's what makes this so frustrating!

Anybody else notice that ever since they "upgraded" their system last year, everything's been a hot mess? πŸ”₯πŸ’© I swear it worked better before...

Omg yes! The new system is so glitchy. Half the time I can't even log in πŸ™„
