Unpopular opinion: maybe try going to the SDI office in person? I know it's a pain, but sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done.
Lol good luck with that. Last time I tried, the line was out the door and around the block. 🤡
I heard a rumor that if you say "EDD" three times in front of a mirror at midnight, a claims specialist appears and solves all your problems. Anyone tried this yet? 👻
If only magic were real! But in reality, persistence and documentation are our true allies.
Thanks for the responses so far. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's a specific form I need to fill out for this situation? The EDD website is so confusing, I can't find anything clear about incapacitated patients.
Omg I feel you. Ive been in the same boat trying to reach them for weeks. Its like they dont want us to get help 🙄
It might help to check if there's a local EDD office you can visit in person. Sometimes face-to-face can cut through some of the red tape.
Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with this for months now. It's ridiculous how broken the system is. Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.
Just google "[your state] find my representative". They usually have contact forms on their websites. Good luck!
Welcome to the club, buddy. We're all in the same boat here. I've been trying to get an update for weeks now. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach anyone. 🤔
lol welcome to the wonderful world of unemployment 🤡 where the rules are made up and your calls don't matter
This comment wins the internet today 💯
Humor aside, it's a grim reality that needs addressing. Hopefully, we'll see improvements soon.
Can we talk about how messed up it is that we're all struggling to get basic help during a pandemic? The system is clearly broken and needs a major overhaul.
I've been saying this for months. We need to organize and demand better. Who's with me?
It's unfortunate how the pandemic has exposed these flaws. Collective action might indeed be necessary for change.

Pro tip: Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you send to EDD. You never know when you might need to prove you sent something.

•So true! It's a lifesaver when things go missing or get delayed.

Returning to work early might affect your benefits. You should definitely call EDD and let them know about the change in your return-to-work date. Better to be upfront than risk an overpayment issue later.

•I second this. ALWAYS report changes asap. EDD doesn't mess around with overpayments

•It might also be helpful to have your case ID or claim number handy when you call. It could speed things up.
