PA UC still haven't received 1099-G tax form for 2024 - anyone else waiting?

Getting super frustrated with the PA unemployment office right now. We're already in tax season and I STILL haven't received my 1099-G form for my unemployment benefits from last year. Nothing shows up in my dashboard message center and I can't get through on the phone. I've been calling for over a week now and left two callback requests with no response. Has anyone else not received theirs yet? Or know how to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever? My tax guy is pressuring me and I really need to file soon to get my refund.

You're not alone! Mine isn't showing up either and I'm ready to pull my hair out. The UC website says they should all be available by January 31st but clearly that didn't happen. I tried calling like 20 times yesterday and kept getting busy signals. This happens EVERY year with them!!

Ugh, so frustrating to hear it's not just me, but also kinda comforting? I'm gonna try calling again tomorrow morning right when they open. Maybe that's the trick?

You can actually access your 1099-G online without waiting for them to mail it or put it in your message center. Log into your UC account, go to 'View My Benefits Plan,' and click on the 'More Information' button. Then look for the '1099-G' link in the left navigation menu. You should be able to view and download a PDF copy to print for your taxes.

Thanks, I tried that already but when I click on the 1099-G section it just says "No records found" - that's why I've been trying to call them.

In that case, you definitely need to talk to someone. If you're getting that error message, they may have an issue with your account that needs to be fixed before they can generate your 1099-G.

I ran into this exact issue last year. You might want to try Claimyr if you're struggling to get through on the phone lines. It's a service that helps you connect with PA UC agents without all the waiting and busy signals. I was skeptical but it actually worked - got me connected to an agent in about 15 minutes after I'd spent days trying on my own. They have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 and their website is claimyr.com. The agent I spoke with was able to generate my 1099-G form while I was on the phone with them.

Thanks for the tip! I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point. I'll check out that website. Did they explain why your 1099-G wasn't showing up in the first place?

Yes! Turns out there was a flag on my account because I had an address change during the year. The system didn't know which address to send it to, so it just... didn't generate one at all. The agent fixed it in just a few minutes once I actually got to speak with someone.

Can't you just estimate your unemployment income from last year? Just look at your bank deposits or the payment history in your UC account. That's what my brother-in-law did when he had this problem.

That's not a good idea. The IRS specifically requires the exact amount from the 1099-G, and your estimates could be off due to tax withholding. Filing with incorrect information could trigger an audit or delay your refund.

Oh well I guess he got lucky then lol

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! I've been dealing with this EXACT issue for THREE WEEKS NOW!!! Called 37 times (yes I counted) and either get a busy signal or the automated message saying they're too busy. Left 5 messages in their callback system and NOTHING! They have ONE JOB! How hard is it to get tax forms out on time?? And then when you go to the "self-service" options online NOTHING WORKS PROPERLY! I'm filing a complaint with my state representative because this is UNACCEPTABLE!!

I feel your frustration 100%. Three weeks is insane! Let me know if filing the complaint gets you anywhere, I might do the same.

Update for everyone: I just spoke with someone at PA UC (finally got through this morning), and they mentioned there was a system-wide issue with 1099-G forms for people who received benefits crossing over from December 2023 to January 2024. They're aware of the problem and working on getting all the missing forms generated by next week. If you need your form urgently for tax filing, they recommended speaking directly with an agent who can manually generate the form for you.

Thank you so much for this update! That explains a lot. I did receive benefits that crossed from December into January. I'm going to try calling again tomorrow morning, and if that doesn't work, I might try that Claimyr service someone mentioned above. Really appreciate you sharing this info!
