Unable to Access NY.gov for Unemployment Certification - Connection Reset Errors for Two Days Straight
Been trying to login to my ny.gov for two days straight and keep getting connection reset errors. My internet is working fine and I can access other websites. I just tried again at 11:20 and got the same error message. Every time I try to go to my.ny.gov, I keep getting "This site can't be reached" followed by "The connection was reset." The browser shows "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET" at the bottom of the error page and suggests "Try: Checking the connection" but my connection is perfectly fine since I can browse other sites without any issues. I've tried different browsers, cleared my cache, restarted my computer, even tried on my phone with 27% battery and still nothing works. I'm getting really worried because I need to submit my weekly unemployment certification and don't want to miss the deadline. Is the NY.gov site down for everyone or is it just me? Any suggestions on how to fix this? Has anyone else resolved this issue successfully? I'm desperate at this point.

Same here in Buffalo! Try clearing your cache and cookies. That worked for me last time the site was acting up. Also try using a different browser like Firefox instead of Chrome.

β’its definitely a system wide issue, my cousin in Albany is having the same problem

I had the same problem but found a way to actually talk to someone. Used claimyr.com to get through on the phone. It costs $20 but they dial and wait on hold, then call you when an agent picks up. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Hey everyone - IT professional here. This is likely due to server maintenance or overload. Here's what you can try: - Use incognito mode - Try early morning (like 5-6am) when traffic is low - Check NYSDOL Twitter for updates - If desperate, call them using claimyr.com (they'll wait on hold for you) - Document all your attempts with screenshots The system usually comes back up within 48-72 hours. Keep trying!

Try using your phone instead of computer. Sometimes the mobile version works better

Having the exact same issue here in Queens! Been getting ERR_CONNECTION_RESET for 3 days now. I called the phone line yesterday and was on hold for 4 hours before giving up. Really stressing about missing my certification deadline. @Amara Nnamani thanks for the IT tips - gonna try the 5am thing tomorrow morning. Has anyone successfully gotten through today at all?

β’@Khalil Urso I m'in the same boat - been trying since Sunday with no luck. The 4 hour hold time is absolutely insane! I m'gonna try that claimyr service that @Zoe Papanikolaou mentioned if the early morning attempt doesn t work.'We really shouldn t have'to pay a third party service just to access our own benefits but here we are π€¦ββοΈ

Same issue here in Rochester! Been getting the connection reset error since Monday. I work in tech support and this definitely looks like a server-side problem on their end. The fact that it's happening statewide confirms it's not our internet connections. I'd recommend everyone document your failed login attempts with timestamps and screenshots - if you miss your certification deadline because of their system being down, you'll have proof it wasn't your fault. Also try different times throughout the day, sometimes these government sites have brief windows where they work better. Hang in there everyone! π€

β’@Douglas Foster Great advice about documenting everything! I ve'been screenshotting every error message just in case. Also wanted to add - if anyone has a VPN, try connecting through a different location. Sometimes these government sites have weird routing issues that a VPN can bypass. I m'in Syracuse and gonna try the early morning approach too after reading everyone s'suggestions here π€

Just wanted to update everyone - I tried the early morning approach that @Amara Nnamani suggested and got through at 5:30am! The site was super slow but I managed to complete my certification. For anyone still having issues, definitely try between 5-7am when there's less traffic. Also make sure to have all your info ready beforehand because the session might time out if you take too long. Hope this helps! π

β’@Zara Shah Thank you so much for the update! That s'really encouraging to hear someone actually got through. I m'definitely setting my alarm for 5am tomorrow - fingers crossed the early morning window is still working. Did you notice if the site was completely down or just really slow during those early hours? Also wondering if anyone knows how long these system issues typically last with NYSDOL? This is my first time dealing with their website problems and the stress is real π

I'm dealing with the exact same issue here in Albany! Been getting ERR_CONNECTION_RESET since Tuesday and it's driving me crazy. My certification is due tomorrow and I'm panicking. I tried all the usual troubleshooting - different browsers, clearing cache, restarting router, even tried from a different location with different wifi. Nothing works! Seeing everyone's comments makes me feel less alone in this mess. Definitely gonna try the 5am approach that @Zara Shah mentioned - sounds like that might be our best bet right now. Also documenting everything like @Douglas Foster suggested just in case I need to prove the system was down. Has anyone had luck calling the regular unemployment line recently or is everyone getting those insane hold times? This whole situation is so stressful when you're already dealing with unemployment π

β’@Lucy Lam I feel you on the stress! I m'new here but dealing with the same nightmare. Been trying since Wednesday with no luck. The regular phone line is a joke - waited 6 hours yesterday and never got through. I m'definitely trying that 5am trick tomorrow too. We got this! Also saw someone mention checking their Twitter for updates - might be worth following @nysdol for any official announcements about the outage. Stay strong! πͺ
