NY unemployment website won't let me upload my resume - keeps timing out
The ny unemployment website has been giving me major headaches since yesterday. I'm trying to upload my updated resume to keep my benefits active but the site keeps timing out or showing some security error about an insecure connection. I've tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, even Edge) and nothing works. I've cleared my cache, tried on my phone instead of laptop, still having the same issues. This is really stressing me out because I know I need to have my resume uploaded by Friday to keep my benefits going. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems? Any suggestions on how to get through?

Yup, same issue on my end since Tuesday night. Tried uploading my resume multiple times but the site kept freezing. I think theres some site maintenance going on that they didnt bother to tell anyone about... typical. 🙄

•Hahaha good luck with that! I spent 3 hours on hold yesterday before hanging up. Their phone system is even worse than their website.

•If you need to get through, try using claimyr.com - they'll hold the line for you and call you when a rep gets on. Saved me hours of headache.

•Wait for real? Never heard of that. Does it actually work?

•Yeah its legit. I was super skeptical at first but was desperate after trying to call for 2 weeks. Got a callback within an hour and got my issue fixed in 10 minutes. best decision ever.

I found a service that helped me bypass all the NY unemployment phone game nonsense. I used claimyr.com and they called the unemployment office, waited on hold for me, then connected me with an agent when they picked up. Talking to an agent got my resume uploaded and my benefits flowing again immediately! Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds sketchy af. Why would I trust some random service?

•I felt the same way but after 2 weeks of not getting through myself I was desperate. They don't ask for any personal info - they just call and wait on hold, then connect you when someone answers. Literally saved my sanity.

•100% worked for me. Got a rep on the phone within 45 mins when I had been trying for days. My benefits were fixed that same day.

The website ALWAYS seems to have issues when there's a deadline coming up. Like clockwork. Almost like they don't want to pay us 😒

Try using Microsoft Edge browser. For some reason it worked for me when nothing else did. Their site is optimized weird.

•Already tried Edge, still getting the same timeout issues 😩

•Damn, sorry to hear that. Maybe try early morning? Like 5-6am when server load is lower?

It's not just you. The whole system is a dumpster fire rn. I've been trying to certify for 3 days and keep getting error messages. My friend said there was an announcement buried somewhere on their Twitter about system updates happening this week. Why they couldn't put that on the main page is beyond me.

•Link to the tweet? I don't see anything on their official account

•let me look... I can't find it now either. Maybe it was on their facebook? Either way it's ridiculous they don't communicate better

Here's a comprehensive guide to dealing with NY unemployment website issues based on my experience (I was in your exact position last month): First, try these technical fixes: - Use incognito/private browsing mode - Try during off-peak hours (early morning or late night) - Make sure your resume file is under 1MB and in .doc or .pdf format only - Disable any VPN or adblockers If that doesn't work, document your attempts with screenshots showing dates/times. This creates a paper trail showing you tried to comply with requirements. For immediate resolution, your best bet is speaking with a live agent. After wasting days on hold, I used claimyr.com and had my issue resolved in one day. They call unemployment for you, wait on hold, then connect you with an agent. If all else fails, contact your state representative's office. They often have direct channels to unemployment office staff. Don't panic about the Friday deadline - if you can document that you tried to upload but the system failed, they cannot penalize you for their technical issues. Hope this helps!

•Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll try the incognito mode first. Did you have any issues with payment delays when this happened to you?

GalacticGuardian
•No payment delays because I got through to an agent who noted the system issues on my account. That's why talking to someone is crucial - they can flag your account so you don't get penalized for their system problems.

•This claimyr thing actually works? seems too good to be true

•Yeah it does. I was skeptical too but after trying to call for days myself I gave in. They just do the hold waiting for you, which saved me from listening to that awful hold music for hours. Got connected to an agent who fixed everything.

Someone on another thread said they're doing system maintenance this week. Supposedly it'll be back up on Thursday. Not sure if that's true tho.

•Thursday might be cutting it close for me if I need to have this done by Friday. Really wish they'd communicate this stuff better

Why do they make everything so damn difficult? It's almost like they WANT people to miss deadlines so they can cut benefits. The whole system needs to be rebuilt from scratch.

Have you tried accessing the site from a library computer? Sometimes public networks work better with government sites for some weird reason. That's what worked for me.

Carmen Ruiz
•That's actually a good idea. There's a library near me, I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Thanks!

I FIXED THIS YESTERDAY!!! Go to your browser settings and clear cookies SPECIFICALLY for ny.gov domains. Then restart your browser. For some reason they have a cookie issue that causes the timeout. Worked for me after nothing else would!

When all else fails with NY unemployment website issues, I just use claimyr.com to get an actual human on the phone. Been using them for months whenever I have issues and it's saved me so much time and frustration.

•Yeah it really does. They basically wait on hold for you then call you when they get someone. I was super skeptical but it worked exactly as advertised.

Ugh, I'm dealing with this right now too. Their whole system crashed when I was halfway through uploading my documents. Been trying for 2 days. This is ridiculous.

Anyone try using a different file format? Maybe convert your resume to plain text or a different version of PDF? I've had issues in the past where their system didn't like certain file formats even though they were technically acceptable.

Carmen Ruiz
•I tried both .docx and .pdf with no luck, but haven't tried plain text. I'll give that a shot

I swear they do this on purpose right before deadlines to reduce how many people can claim benefits. It's a broken system designed to be broken. 😤

Javier Cruz
•Facts. They make it as difficult as possible hoping people will just give up.

Try calling the alternate number: 1-888-209-8124. Their main line is always jammed but sometimes this one has shorter wait times.
