NYDOL Direct Deposit Setup Issues - System Rejecting Bank Details

Hey everyone, I'm having a real headache trying to set up my direct deposit for unemployment. The system keeps rejecting my bank details and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any tips on how to get it sorted out? I've triple-checked my account and routing numbers, but still no luck. It's frustrating because I really need that money to come through. Any help would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I had the same problem last month. Have you tried calling the NYDOL helpline? They might be able to verify your info and update it in the system.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying to get through to them for days, but the lines are always busy. It's so frustrating 😫

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep...

Yeah, it's not cheap, but considering how much time and stress it saved me, it was worth it imo.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Double-check your bank account type (checking vs. savings) 2. Make sure you're entering the routing number first, then the account number 3. Don't include any spaces or special characters 4. If you have a joint account, try entering it under just your name 5. Sometimes the system glitches - try logging out, clearing your browser cache, and trying again If none of that works, you might need to talk to someone at NYDOL directly. Good luck!

I swear, the NYDOL system is held together with duct tape and prayers. It's a miracle anything works at all.

For real tho. I bet their computers still run on Windows 95 💀

Hey now, don't insult Windows 95 like that 😂

Have you considered using a prepaid debit card instead? Some people find it easier than dealing with direct deposit drama.

I hadn't thought of that. How does it work exactly?

Basically, they send you a card and load your benefits onto it each week. No bank account needed. You can use it like a regular debit card.

That sounds like it could be a good backup plan. Thanks for the tip!

PSA: If you're having trouble with direct deposit, make sure your name on the unemployment claim EXACTLY matches your bank account name. Even a middle initial can mess it up.

Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. I'll double-check. Thanks!

Anyone else feel like we need a support group for dealing with NYDOL? 😅 Maybe we can all pitch in for a group therapy session lol

I had this exact same issue last month! What finally worked for me was going to my bank branch and asking them to print out a direct deposit form with the correct routing and account numbers. Turns out my online banking was showing a slightly different routing number than what I needed for direct deposits. The teller explained that some banks have different routing numbers for different types of transactions. Once I used the numbers from the official form, it went through immediately. Might be worth a shot!
