Can't set up direct deposit for disability benefits - help!
Hey everyone, I'm having a really frustrating time trying to set up direct deposit for my disability benefits. Has anyone else run into this issue? I've been trying for days and it's driving me crazy. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I had the same problem last month. Have you tried calling the disability office? It took me forever to get through, but once I did, they were able to help me set it up over the phone.

•Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. That's how I finally got through!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam?

•I get the skepticism, but I promise it's legit. I was desperate and took a chance. Saved me hours of frustration. But yeah, do your own research first!

•Can confirm, I used it too. Totally worth the $20 imo

Have you checked if theres an online portal where you can set up direct deposit? Some states have that option now. Might be worth looking into before you spend hours on the phone.

Here's what worked for me to set up direct deposit for disability benefits: 1. Gather all your info: bank account number, routing number, SSN, and claim number. 2. Try the online portal first if your state has one. It's usually faster than calling. 3. If you have to call, do it early in the morning or late in the day. Avoid Mondays and lunch hours. 4. Be patient and polite with the rep. They deal with frustrated people all day. 5. Ask them to confirm everything is set up correctly before you hang up. 6. Keep an eye on your account for the first deposit to make sure it goes through. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

have u tried turning it off and on again? 🤣 jk jk... but srsly, sometimes logging out and back in to the online system can fix weird glitches. worth a shot!

I'm in the same boat, been trying to set up direct deposit for weeks. This whole system is a joke. Why can't they just make it simple? 🤦♂️

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they purposely make it difficult so people give up

•Conspiracy theory: they're hoping we'll get frustrated and stop claiming benefits 👀

I went through this exact same nightmare a few months ago! What finally worked for me was bringing all my paperwork (bank info, ID, claim docs) to a local EDD office in person. I know it's a pain to go in person, but the staff there were actually helpful and got it sorted in about 20 minutes. Way better than spending hours on hold! Check if there's an office near you that handles disability claims - some locations are appointment-only now but it's worth it to avoid the phone maze.

•Oh wow, I didn't even think about going in person! That's actually a really good idea. I've been so focused on trying to do everything online or over the phone. Do you know if I need to make an appointment first, or can I just walk in? And did you have to bring any specific forms besides the usual bank info and ID?

I had this exact same issue! What ended up working for me was making sure I had the correct routing number - turns out I was using the wrong one from an old checkbook. Also, double-check that your bank account is a checking account and not savings, because some states won't deposit into savings accounts. If you're still having trouble, try clearing your browser cache before attempting again - sometimes the online form gets glitchy. Hope this helps!

•This is super helpful! I never thought about the routing number issue - I've been using the one from my mobile app which might be different from the paper checks. And good point about checking vs savings, I was actually trying to use my savings account. Going to try again with my checking account info and the routing number from an actual check. Thanks for the browser cache tip too!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Been trying for over a week and keep getting error messages when I submit the form. Has anyone tried using a different browser? I was using Chrome but wondering if Safari or Firefox might work better. Also, does anyone know if there's a specific time of day when their system works better? I feel like I've tried everything at this point 😩
