NY unemployment sent confusing deadline dates for Docusign form - need help ASAP

I got an email from unemployment in late November saying I needed to complete this Docusign form by December 7th. I was planning to finish it over the weekend, but today I just received a letter in the mail saying the actual deadline is TODAY (November 30th)! Totally panicking right now. Has anyone else gotten mixed messages about document deadlines? Did they send you different dates too? I'm trying to figure out which deadline is real before I get my benefits cut off.

Same thing happened to me but with different dates! The email said January 15th but then I get a text message saying December 20th. I called like 50 times trying to get someone on the phone to clarify. Always busy signal or disconnected. I ended up just submitting everything ASAP to be safe. The ny unemployment system is such a mess with these communications.

Did you eventually find out which date was correct? I'm freaking out about missing a deadline here...

I never got a straight answer tbh. Just submit it right now if you can. Better safe than sorry with these people!

this is why I screenshot EVERYTHING they send me. their system is so broken they contradict themselves constantly πŸ™„

After months of trying to reach ny unemployment with no luck, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it was the only way I could actually talk to someone. They called and stayed on hold, then connected me directly to an agent. Talking to that agent got my benefits fixed in literally 10 minutes after weeks of stress. Sharing the link to their YouTube too: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

wait does this actually work? ive been trying to get through for weeks...

0 coins

Yeah it actually does. I was super skeptical at first but I was desperate. Got a callback with a live agent within a couple hours. Best thing I've done to solve my unemployment issues.

I don't believe this for a second. Nothing works with these people.

I get the skepticism trust me. But I literally talked to someone who fixed my issue. After weeks of trying myself, it was worth every penny to finally get my benefits flowing again.

another day another miracle solution πŸ™„ whats the catch?

CosmicCrusader

β€’

No catch that I found. They just call and wait on hold so you don't have to. When an agent answers, you get connected. Simple as that.

Always go with the EARLIER deadline. The system is terrible about sending conflicting info. I got burned once thinking I had until the end of month based on email, then found out the mailed letter had the correct (earlier) date. Ended up having to reapply and lost 3 weeks of benefits.

The most important thing with ny unemployment is to DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Save emails, take screenshots, write down call reference numbers, the names of people you speak with, etc. Their system is so disorganized that you need proof of everything when they inevitably make mistakes.

β€’

THIS!!! I learned this the hard way. They told me I didnt submit something that I 100% did and because I had no proof they made me start over.

β€’

Yep, happened to me too. Now I even record phone calls (one-party consent state) just to have backup.

I had the EXACT same issue with docusign deadlines being different! The way I handled it was to download the document myself, fill it out manually, then upload it through the messaging system on the unemployment website. That way I had proof of submission date and time. The system is totally broken but this approach at least gave me some peace of mind.

β€’

Wait this is genius. Can you actually do this instead of using their DocuSign??

0 coins

Luca Russo

β€’

Yep! Just make sure you convert it back to PDF after filling it out. Their system accepts uploads if you go through the message center. I always do this now instead of using their janky systems.

Thank you so much! Going to try this right now.

Here's the deal with the unemployment system in NY - they are DROWNING in paperwork and their different departments don't talk to each other. Email system = one team. Postal mail = different team. Website = yet another team. They literally contradict each other constantly. Submit everything ASAP and keep receipts of EVERYTHING.

☝️ This is the real answer. My sister works for the state (not unemployment but different agency) and says its the same across all depts. Total chaos behind the scenes.

β€’

wats tha point of tha docusign form anyway?? i got one too an sent it back but dunno why they need it now after ive been on benefits for months already??????

β€’

It's probably for the quarterly review. They do random checks to make sure people are still eligible. If you don't send it back they can suspend your benefits.

Look into using Claimyr.com - I was in the same situation and couldn't get a straight answer about deadlines. Used Claimyr to finally get someone on the phone who confirmed the MAIL date was the correct one (always go with the later communication). The service saved me from missing my deadline and potentially losing benefits. Worth every penny to get a human on the phone who could actually help.

Not falling for another unemployment "hack"... these never work πŸ™„

β€’

I get being skeptical, but this actually does work. It's not a hack - they just stay on hold so you don't have to. When there's finally a real person, you get connected. I wasted 3 days trying to call myself before I found them.

I tried this too after seeing it recommended here last month. Got someone on the phone in about 2 hours when I had been trying for days. They actually fixed my issue.

The unemployment system is systematically designed to be confusing so people miss deadlines and they can deny benefits. Change my mind. πŸ’…

FACTS. I worked in government (not unemployment) and there's a reason they make it difficult. Less payouts = money saved.

I have a comprehensive solution to dealing with NY unemployment deadline confusion that might help: First, ALWAYS go with the earliest deadline date you receive. Don't risk it. The system is notorious for sending contradictory information. Second, document everything. Take screenshots, save emails, note dates/times. This has saved me multiple times when they claimed they never received something I submitted. Third, if you need to speak with someone (which you probably do in this case), don't waste days trying to call yourself. I used claimyr.com and they got me through to an agent when I'd been trying for weeks. The agent confirmed that in cases of conflicting dates, the most recent communication contains the correct deadline. Fourth, send follow-up messages through your online account confirming what you've submitted and when. This creates a paper trail in their system. Finally, check your online portal daily for updates. Sometimes they post important notices there that never make it to email or mail. This approach has helped me navigate the system for the past year without losing benefits. Hope it helps!

Thank you for such detailed advice! I'm definitely going to use that claimyr service you mentioned because I NEED to talk to someone today.

Just to add my experience: they sent me three different deadlines (web portal, email, and mail) for the same form. I submitted by the earliest deadline and still got a warning that I was late πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Had to spend 2 weeks calling to get it sorted out. The system is completely broken.

Is anyone else unable to even open the DocuSign forms? I keep getting error messages when I try to access mine.

Try a different browser! They don't work on Safari for me but Chrome is fine.

My friend works for NY unemployment (don't come for me lol) and she says their internal systems don't talk to each other. The email system is automated and follows one schedule while the mail system follows another. The physical letters are usually the most up-to-date information.

This makes SO much sense. I've gotten conflicting info so many times and could never figure out why.

I did after someone here recommended it. It's legit - they just call and wait on hold, then when someone answers they connect you. Saved me hours of frustration.

Have you checked your online account dashboard? Sometimes the most accurate deadline is shown there. The NY unemployment website is garbage but occasionally it has the right info when emails/mail are wrong.

I'm currently in the middle of the Ninth Circle of NY Unemployment Hellβ„’ and my only advice is CALL THEM NOW. Don't wait, don't email, CALL. And keep calling until you get through to a human who can tell you the real deadline. Everything else is just guesswork.

ok so weird suggestion but hear me out - I started FAXING all my documents to them (yes fax still exists) in addition to submitting electronically and my problems with "missing" deadlines stopped. Old school tech for an old school broken system I guess?

β€’

This is actually brilliant. Where do you find the fax number???

0 coins

CosmicCowboy

It's on the bottom of most of their official letters! There are also free fax apps you can use so you don't need an actual fax machine.
