Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. i think the whole program is a scam tbh. ny state announced this big relief program to look good in the press but never had a plan to actually distribute the funds efficiently. classic government move - big promises, garbage execution.

I'm a former tour guide who applied on April 5th. Just got my payment today (August 12th). So it took just over 4 months total. Hang in there everyone, they ARE slowly processing them!

Check that your direct deposit info is correct in the system!!! My backpay was supposedly "sent" but to an old account. Once I updated it they resent everything within a week.
NY unemployment is still backed up from covid even tho that was years ago 🙄 there's like 8 people answering phones for the whole state i swear. absolute joke.
and they probably hired their cousins who don't know what they're doing 🤡
for real! every time i get someone they give me different info. left hand doesn't know what the right is doing

this is why i stopped claiming benefits even tho i qualify. the mental health toll of fighting this broken system is worse than just taking any random job i can find. they win by making it so impossible.
I felt this. Spent so many hours fighting for my benefits I could have worked a part time job with the same hours.

There's actually a new NYS tax credit for 2023 called the Working Families Tax Credit that might help offset some of the tax burden if you qualify. Worth looking into if you were on unemployment part of the year but also worked.

If you had any taxes withheld from your unemployment checks, make sure that shows up correctly on your 1099-G. My friend had withholding but it wasn't reflected on his form and he had to contact ny unemployment to get it fixed.

I checked with several sources and called ny unemployment directly. No stimulus is coming currently. The only payments going out now are regular unemployment benefits, child tax credits if you have kids, and maybe some retroactive payments if you had issues with your claim before. Don't get your hopes up for anything else right now unfortunately.
