check your mail carefully - sometimes they send a form you can fill out and mail back to request a payment plan. might still take forever for them to process it but at least its an option that doesnt involve the phone hell
worst case scenario: if they do end up sending it to collections, immediately request a payment plan with the collection agency. they're usually much easier to work with than NYSDOL directly (which is sad but true). Just make sure to get everything in writing if it goes that route.
That's good to know but really hoping it doesn't get to that point. Would rather not have it affect my credit if possible.
Did you check if your identity has been verified in the system? A lot of claims are stuck in ID verification hell right now. If you log in and see a message about ID verification, you need to upload documents through ID.me or their system.
getting the card is a good sign but honestly ny unemployment is such a mess right now who knows. my friend and i both applied the same day, she got paid in 2 weeks, took me 6 weeks with no explanation for the delay.
fr its completely random. some people sail through and others get stuck in limbo for months 🤮
check if u have unresolved issues on your claim. log into ur account and look for any messages or alerts. sometimes they need additional info but dont make it obvious
Just checked and don't see any alerts or messages asking for more info. Hopefully that's a good sign?
please don't do anything drastic. i know how you feel. was in your exact shoes feburary-april. couldnt reach anyone for 8 weeks and was about to be homeless. finally broke down and used claimyr.com after seeing it mentioned here. got through to someone who fixed EVERYTHING in one call. hang in there. this system is brutal but don't let it break you.
Have you filed a complaint with the NY Department of Labor Inspector General? It might sound pointless but they are required to investigate all complaints. I did this after 3 months of getting nowhere and suddenly got a call from a supervisor who fixed everything.
Here you go: https://ig.ny.gov/form/complaint-form-long. Make sure to document everything in detail - dates you called, what happened, etc.

just call them. the website is trash and always shows wrong info. don't trust what you see online with NY unemployment 💯

CALL THEM NOW dont wait. I had a similar situation where they randomly decided I wasnt eligible for 12 weeks of backpay and by the time I noticed it was almost too late to appeal. These issues get harder to fix the longer you wait.
