Does anyone have trouble downloading their 1099g from ny unemployment website?

Just got an email that my 1099g tax form is available on the NY unemployment portal, but I keep running into issues when I try to access it. I click on the tax forms section and either get an error message or the page just loads forever. Been trying since Thursday afternoon and still nothing. Tax deadline is coming up pretty soon and I need this form to file! Anyone else experiencing this? Is there another way to get the 1099g besides the website? I tried calling but couldn't get through to an actual person after waiting for almost 2 hours.

Same. The website is completely useless. I've been trying for over a week now and it keeps giving me an error code or just freezes up. I called the number and got stuck in automated hell for over an hour before it just hung up on me. Why do they make everything so difficult? 🤬

Exactly! Did you try calling at specific times? I heard early morning might be better but idk if that's true

Automated hell is right! I swear they designed the system to be as frustrating as possible 💯

I tried calling at 8:01am, 12:30pm, and 3:45pm. Same result every time. This is some next level incompetence.

I was having the same problem for days but I finally got through! I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they actually got me connected with a real person at unemployment who helped me get my 1099g sent by email. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent and worth every penny because I needed that form ASAP. Check out this video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

another 'miracle solution' huh? what's the catch? 🙄

No catch! It's just a service that calls for you and holds your place in line. When they get through to an agent, you get a call back. Talking to a real person got my issue fixed in 5 minutes after days of frustration.

not falling for another unemployment 'hack'... nothing ever works with this broken system lmao

I get the skepticism, I felt the same way! But when you've been trying for weeks and tax day is coming up... desperate times. All I know is I finally got my 1099g after using it.

You can request it by mail too. Go to the NY unemployment site, look under tax forms, and theres an option to have it mailed. Takes about 7-10 days to arrive tho so if ur in a rush might not work for you.

THEY ARE THE WORST!!!! I've been dealing with ny unemployment for 3 months now, and still havent gotten my issues resolved. I swear they purposely make everything complicated so people just give up. The website is from 1995 and crashes constantly.

100% this. They hope we'll just go away if they make it hard enough.

I had this problem last week. What worked for me was trying at like 2am when traffic on the site is lower. Also try using a different browser - Chrome worked for me but Firefox didn't for some reason. If that doesn't work, try clearing your cache and cookies or using incognito mode.

Thanks for the tips! I'll try the 2am thing tonight. Desperate at this point.

This actually worked for me too! did it at 1:30am and the site was way faster

Look, here's what you need to do to get your 1099-G form from NY Unemployment if the website isn't working: 1. Try clearing your cache/cookies and using a different browser first 2. If that fails, try during off-hours (very early morning or late night) 3. If you still can't access it online, you have three options: - Request it by mail through the website (takes 7-10 days) - Call the dedicated 1099-G hotline at 1-888-209-8124 (good luck getting through) - Use a service like claimyr.com that will wait on hold for you and connect you with a live agent I personally tried for days to get through the normal channels and kept hitting walls. Finally used Claimyr and got connected to an agent who emailed me my 1099-G within minutes. Talking to a real person is definitely the fastest way to resolve this. Also, remember that you technically have until October to file if you request an extension, so don't panic too much. But getting this resolved sooner is obviously better.

This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much for the detailed info. Will try the off-hours thing tonight and then maybe claimyr if that doesn't work.

wait do you work for Claimyr or something? seems like everyone's mentioning them suddenly

Nope, just someone who was in the same boat as OP last month and finally found something that worked after wasting days trying to get through. The regular methods are a joke.

anyone know if we can file without the 1099g? i have all my payment info in my records, can i just use that instead of waiting for this stupid form?

Technically you can estimate but it's risky. If your numbers don't match what's on the 1099g you might get audited.

I wouldn't chance it. IRS gets a copy of your 1099g directly from NY unemployment, so they'll know if the numbers don't match what you report.

I think they're doing system maintenance right now. The website has been extra terrible the past week. Try again on Monday maybe?

Check ur email spam folder!!! My 1099g notification went there and I almost missed it. Also the link in the email worked better than going through the regular website for me.

0 coins

Good idea, just checked spam but nothing there unfortunately. Did the email link work better than the website?

0 coins

yep! the direct link in the email bypassed all the login glitches for me

The whole NY unemployment system is a joke. Took me THREE MONTHS to get my benefits when I was laid off last year, now I can't even get the tax form I need. I'm so done with this state tbh

If you can't get the online version working at all, you might want to try Claimyr, claimyr.com I was skeptical but it actually connected me with an agent who fixed my issue. Saved me hours of hold music hell.

Hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

It's not some miracle thing, it just calls them repeatedly and waits on hold so you don't have to. When they get a human, you get a call. Then you just explain your issue to the agent. Saved me from hours of frustration.

This actually sounds useful. The hold times are killing me.

Have u tried using a mobile device instead of computer? For some weird reason, the mobile site worked for me when the desktop version kept crashing.
