Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Soooo what happens if the 1099 shows the wrong amount and you can't get anyone on the phone to fix it? Do I just file with the wrong info or what? I don't wanna get flagged for tax fraud but it's literally impossible to reach anyone 😩
Try claimyr.com - I was in the same situation and it got me through to an agent who fixed mine. Otherwise you might be waiting weeks to get it corrected.
You should NOT file with incorrect info. That's just asking for trouble with the IRS later.

I thought the same thing but I was desperate after trying for days. Used claimyr.com and actually got through to someone who fixed my issue. Sometimes you gotta try something new when the old way isn't working.

If you can't get the online version working at all, you might want to try Claimyr, claimyr.com I was skeptical but it actually connected me with an agent who fixed my issue. Saved me hours of hold music hell.
It's not some miracle thing, it just calls them repeatedly and waits on hold so you don't have to. When they get a human, you get a call. Then you just explain your issue to the agent. Saved me from hours of frustration.
This actually sounds useful. The hold times are killing me.

Check if your town or county has any emergency assistance programs. Some localities still have covid relief funds that haven't been fully distributed. Local charities might help too.

Not a solution to your immediate problem, but for future protection: all self-employed people in NY can voluntarily elect to pay into the state disability insurance system. It costs like 60 cents per $100 of income up to a cap. Most don't know this is an option but it's worth considering going forward.
Where do you sign up for this? I've been self-employed for 3 years and never heard about it.
You can sign up through the NY State Insurance Fund website. But there's a waiting period before you can claim benefits - I think it's 4 weeks.

If Twitter doesn't work for you, I had success with emailing my state representative. They have staff who deal with constituent services and can sometimes cut through the red tape. Took about 2 weeks but they got someone from unemployment to call me.
